2000 Neon fuse problem

Post by Young Gunna » Sat May 21, 2005 11:32 pm

allright so i just picked up my 2000 neon today, and there was no deck (previous owner had aftermarket)
so i decide to stick in my old pioneer cd deck

i baught the adapter kit and all the wiring adapter, so at first i connect the wires color coded to test if i had them hooked up right
i turn on to "accecories" and the deck turns on i put in a disc and pump it
and also realise that my driver door speaker is blown

so neways i take key out of ignition disconnect the wires and connect them with proper wire connectors and all that... then i test again.....deck wont turn on

well i decide i messed up somewhere so meh i had to leave for work so i disconnected everything and left it

then when i started engine to leave i noticed i get a "fuse" message in the dash and also my lights (tail and signals) go into "hazard" mode so they all flash when i signal left or right

so im guessin i blew a fuse but the question is where do i start?

also i had to replace tail light bulb earlier that day cause it was burnt but after that it worked fine...

aany help appreciated tnx

If you think it's a fuse check the fuse box on the side of the dash. You can see the access panel when you open the drivers door.

FYI:
Only use the factory acc. wire for memory, DO NOT use the factory power wire for the head unit. I had an Alpine in my 03 SXT and internally it had a high current amp built in. It draws to MUCH power for the factory 12volt lead to support.
Get yourself a good 100-200watt amp install kit and use its power wire to run from the battery to your head unit. Of course use the supplied fuses. This should cure your blowing fuses and now the head unit will work even better since it has no 12volt restriction. The STOCK power lead was designed for a low current factory amp, not a HIGH current aftermarket....
