Here's the good:
$700 and it still runs
Chrome dubs n custom paint job, please notice very intricate pattern on back bumper
Image
Insane sound system courtesy of Pyle(o-crap)audio
Image
Extra race-inspired 1-off hubless steering wheel on back seat
Image

Completely emptied out trunk(no spare, jack, etc..) for weight savings ofcourse, custom tint job that lets very few light in and even less light out(I couldn't see crap out the back window last night on the way home) and I'm sure there's a few more goodies to be found, once I get her in the garage and start working on it.

Here's the bad(so far):
Engine codes:
P0112(M) Intake Air Temp Sensor Voltage Low Intake air (charge) temperature sensor input below the minimum acceptable voltage.

P1684 Battery Disconnected in the last 50 Starts The battery has been disconnected within the last 50 starts.

White smoke out of her rearend, extremely loud noise coming from the front passanger wheel, sounded as if I was running on a flat tire or if the brake was locked and I was forcing it to spin, owner said it was the bearings.
Engine bay doesn't look right, specially the front driver side where the air filter goes, I looked in the forums for engine pics but most of u guys have yours modified so its hard to compare, here's a few pics:
Image

Plese note the vacuum line coming from the engine going towards the air filter, for some reason I think that goes connected somewhere
Image

Image

Something tells me that this hole with this wire hanging out of it is not supposed to be like that
Image

Pics of the radiator and fan:
Image

I don't think that bracket holding the radiator is correct
Image

This wire also seems out of place
Image

Any 1 has any input on this???

Wow! That's quite a project you've got there!

The wire hanging in the hole is the "air temp" sensor (correct me if I'm wrong here guys). There used to be a 90 degre plastic elbow coming off the airbox that would go down into that hole, and the sensor was attached to said elbow. If you plan on getting a cold air intake for your car, most of the better ones have a place for that to go. I'm not 100%, but I think if you get that plugged back into the proper area it will make your first fault code go away.

The second code is pretty common if the battery has been disconnected, and re-connected a lot.

The vac. line from the engine used to have a rubber piece that connected to your T-body.

Can't help you on the other stuff, I will step aside for the more knowledgeable. Although it almost looks like that radiator shroud has been on fire!

edit: also, the car appears to have been in at least one front end collison (note overspray, and red paint showing through0 on grill support by drivers headlight)

Last, this is the only things I see wrong with the interior:

Something tells me that some1 tried to steal this car, plus my key won't open the driver side door, it just goes all around

Well guys any help with fixing up the beater would be greatly appreciated, I'd like to have it runing smoothly by the end of the week, my main concern is that horrible sound coming from the wheel.
My plans for this car is to have a decent street car with a few more ponies under the hood and a better suspension, I would like to take her autocrossing every now and then, so with that in mind any suggestions on modifications, repairs and anything else i can do to the car to have her running like a champ???? I'm all ears.
I think I should post this in the project/progress log what u guys think??

Coudln't be that... you're looking at the rear of the car by the rear control arms. Not really sure what it is though. Have a pic from the other side of the rear cross member?

Looks like it's in pretty good shape for $700. A little TLC should go a long way.

Thanks for the replies guys, JFTL i'm almost certain there was a small front end collision and my plans do call for a CAI any suggestions on a good 1???
Diablo, I would take a better pic of that but its some crap hanging off the gas tank, i'll post it in a few min. thanks for the input

There's a lot of opinions about CAI's (Cold Air Intakes). I personally am running the stock box because it functions pretty much the same as one, so I don't have much of a say about them at this time. Quality ones I hear mentioned are AEM, Iceman (no longer available ?) and a few others. There are tons of cheap ones on ebay, but of course they are just that....CHEAP. Modernperformance.com has a couple of good ones on there, or you could watch the "For Sale" boards here.

One thing, I would see about the suspension problem you mention, and also the engine smoking before you do too much more to it. No sense in spending 200. on a CAI when you need some engine work done.

First off welcome!
Second looks like you got a nice little project for yourself.
Third some things I noticed that may help you:
Image
This is the most stock engine pic I have and the stock airbox was already swapped out but,
1) Your battery appears to be turned around for some reason and the terminals look to be in bad shape.
2) This is what a stock radiator clip SHOULD look like.
3) This is the wire and connector you have hanging out where your intake box is. I'm sure I'll get corrected if I'm wrong but I beleive it's called a MAF sensor. You would need to get the rest of the airbox and bellows tube or get an aftermarket intake to reconnect.
a) The line starts here...
b) continues...
c) elbows to a larger diameter line here and...
d) continues...
e) I put it under the intake tube here and...
f) connects here on this particular intake. Once again the complete stock assembly or any aftermarket intake will have provisions for this.

The strap you have hanging out the back...it's not holding the gas tank up is it?! Check that out ASAP!

Iterior parts you can pop off at the junkyard for cheap.

All in all it doesn't appear to have too much wrong with it however with a $700 price I suspect there may be. First thing, take care of all mechanical and suspension issues. Get your car safe and dependable before going crazy with aftermarket stuff. If you need to replace a part then might as well get an aftermarket upgrade if you can. Don't settle for cheap parts either, one thing I learned is you always get what you pay for.

Have fun with it, keep us posted!

Overdrive418, I have to say thank you, that def. gives me a start point and now I know what it is that I'm looking for.
As far as the white smoke, I'm hoping is just oil in the spark plug tubes, I had that on another car and all i had to do was replace tube seals and problem gone(guys, pray 4 me  )
As far as that weird sound goes it seems to be the bearings, for what i've read on the forums, those are about $50 but then I read that you need a hydraulic press to get them in  ?????? can some1 confirm this, how much would a mech. charge for this kinda work???
Believe it or not, I drove this thing 90 miles to get it home last night and it worked just fine I got it up to 65mph without any problems, that sound on the wheel was giving me a headache but that was about it and I also had less oil that what I started with but I made it safe n sound.

Diablo, this is the best I could do, its already dark outside:

For some reason I have a bad feeling you have a hole in your tank that duct tape won't fix!

Correct me if I'm wrong guys but I think if you have grey smoke its oil and if its white its water. How many miles are on it?

But anyway welcome to the forums and here's a pic of my project i got for $700 usd with 70,000 miles on it. The motor runs well and the interior is near perfect.

ok remove the duct tape and see if it is leaking if it is find the hole and get some tank repair or liquid steel it is ok for gas and will harden like a jb weld fixed mine right up and the air flow sensore hanging in the hole is your 1st trouble code and i would get a new one and set it in the air box where the 90 degree pipe should be till you get a cai and the smoke it is one of the fluids leaking into the chamber i don't know what one is white smoke but i think it is water do a compression check and if it is all fine check to see if there is any oil water mixing in the oil pan or radiator if there is drain the oil and get a new radiator .and also do a head gasket just to be safe

that is what i would do my 2 cents

Perfect shot of this, nice pic Midnight. You can clearly see where your hanging sensor goes...in the bellows tube you're missing!

Also note battery position and radiator mounts.

that connects with a rubber 90 degree elbow to the air box, not the tb. Mine looks just like yours in the pic, b/c when i went back to stock set up i lost that little elbow. Lol mine is just sitting there like yours.

Thanks everyone for the replies and all the great info, midnight and 2003silverneonsxt thanks for the extra pics.
OverDrive418, that 2gn of the month nomination is hilarious, ragek23 if I knew I had a gas leak when I brought her home I would've def. gave a car dolly a second thought
As far as updates, I finally cleaned up the garage and she's coming in today I'll be taking more pics as the progress goes on and see what other "surprises" I find.
And in the spirit of competition I'll be posting the prices for all the needed parts for that 2gnOTM.

UPDATE!!!!
LET THE TEARDOWN BEGIN:

Notice anything missing???
Image

How about now???
Image

OK, now??
Image

And look what was under that:
Image

Wires and connectors(I don't know that they do or what they're for) just hanging there, there's a bracket for it which might suggest it goes tied down to something:
Image

But for some reason my mechanic keeps telling me that its all good :D
