Ok here it goes: so im driving to school this afternoon around 1:45PM, and I stop at a red light about halfway there. The light turns green and I continue on my way. I'm just minding my business, trying not to die from the heat, when out of NOWHERE, a (stock) silver 00-02 2gn flys into the middle of the road, no more than 50 feet in front of my car. He tried to make a 90* turn into an intersection at what looked to be upwards of 75MPH. With braking and attempted steering (read: understeer) he probably scrubbed off about 20MPH or so, but he was still coming in WAY too hot for a corner as sharp as this one. The brakes were locked and the tires smoking as he hit a curbed median (about 5 feet wide) HEAD ON. The car was flung into the air, probably 3-4 feet, and somehow landed on all four wheels... on the other side of the median (into oncoming traffic). The entire front suspension was gone and most of the front of the car was sitting on the ground. Both front axles appeared to be broken/dislocated from the car, and the wheels were just slouching under the car's weight.
This all happened within about 2 seconds, and I saw the entire thing. Insane. The dude was ok. My friend from class, who was driving a few cars back, said he saw him get out and everything. I wish I would have got a pic or something, but I was in shock and didnt stop (I feel terrible for not seeing if the guy was alright). I dont know if he was drunk or on crack or what, but anyone who tries to make a straight guided 90* turn on a main street deserves what they get. I dont know how he didnt hit anyone, there were at least 10 cars in all directions within 100 feet of it.
Thats my crazy story of the day
