Another catch can

Post by racer12306 » Mon Aug 27, 2007 3:48 pm

I was looking through the latest JEG'S catalog and noticed an Air Oil Separator kit. It is very similar to the $20 catch can, but looks a little nicer. It is $45, so its a little pricey. But it does come with a mounting bracket and the hose barb fittings. It does look like it has a nice little drain.

For those who are interested the part number is 555-52205.

The one from JEG'S would be much smaller. Probably about the same size as the $20 catch can which is about 3 or 4 inches tall and 1.5 inches in diameter, not including the barbs.

that actually looks like a pretty good set-up that comes complete. i have the boomba catch can. piecing a drain/petcock system for it has been a bit of a pain. btw i paid a lot more than 45.00 for it too!!!
ooh...there's a glimmer of the dream left!!!

The only thing with separators is the air has to be realitively cool so the oil/moisture will drain to the bottom other wise it is still in a vapor state and will pass through. I installed a atf cooler from a radiator tank in line with mine it works OK but I still need more cooling as I'm still getting oil in my intake. I'm running a copper line from my valve cover to the separator and you'd be amazed how hot the air is comming out of the valve cover.

Nice link racer, you should put it in your how-to. I will probably pick one up to go between my intake and my valve cover. Looks pretty small which is a plus.

I'm already one step ahead of you. It's already in my original post in the how-to.
