Template to make Omega bumper flares

Post by SlvrACR » Wed Aug 29, 2007 6:58 am

Here is the pics. To make the other side just flip it over. I used a sheet of stainless from HomeDepot for $15 and you can make 2 sets. If you need any more pics let me know.

So, essentially this just pushes the bumper out to the sides a little ? Interesting....
I may have to see about someone making a set for me because I'm not a metal fab'er by any means.

Thanks for idea  I think I like it!

ooooh, ok, so you screw these into the holes in the body that are presently there and then screw the bumper into the new flares... nice, I LIKE it.

how far in are the holes to be drilled, how big is the top part of the flare, and how far apart are the holes from each other?

I think you're asking, that the bumper may be too formed in its way already for this to work?

It does work, very well, it helps to flatten out the bumper to cover plus sized wheel/tire combo, plus some people just like the look.

The bumper doesn't stick out that far. The bumper ends up sitting flush with the fender instead of sucking inwards towards the bottom. See here:

If you are going to become a vendor of these, you should...

1. Send all required information to Diablo0
2. Wait for approval
3. Post a thread in the Vendor Section

Unless you have a bunch of these made up already you will probably considered a made to order vendor. If you have a bunch made up and are selling them, you will still need to post a thread in the proper section.

I intend to... gotta stop and get more materials and I'll go through the motions thanks :)

SlvrACR wrote:LOL making money off a design i posted for free. Your welcome. Glad I bought them to help you out.
Gotta pay for school somehow...? :-\ and its not like I'm charging an arm and a leg to do it... barely making a profit on these specially since I'm using Aluminum instead of stainless steel, I like the properties of Aluminum vs. stainless, regardless of cost... I think I'm actually gonna refine the design a little more... Make it a little more Hidden, as well as maybe make a few different widths, just like the real ones...

sidenote: I'm actually working on a design for retro-fitting the LED tails into a 00-02 Tail Light housing too... just waiting for a good deal on the tails so I don't feel terrible about hacking up a set of expensive tail lights to begin with... but If no one else has done it, then I guess I'll be the first? I hope.... I just gotta figure out what the best way to physically attach the LEDs to the 00-02 housing, then it would be all set... :)

The first pic, the metal looks curved, but on the template they're not curved at all. Is that just an illusion because of the way the metal is bending, or what?

You're missing a few measurements. Also, the bottom edge is straight on the diagram, but the picture has them slanted. Is that supposed to be your version of looking at it at an angle, or what?
