Decent deal, or should I wait?

Doing a SRT-4 Motor swap into your Neon, maybe even a 2.4... have questions about it, what you'll need or what issues you'll run into? Answers can be found in here.

Decent deal, or should I wait?

Post by apk2k6 » Wed Aug 29, 2007 2:45 pm

There's a guy about 2 hours from me who always gets wrecked srt-4's and I talked to him about the engine swap parts. He said for everything under the hood, including radiator, wires, and also clutch, pedals, etc.... he would sell everything for $2800

I was wondering if this was a decent deal or should I look around on ebay for better deals when they come up. I wouldn't start the swap until around December anyways so it doesn't matter if I buy it now or in the near future.

Thats a good deal, plus you wouldnt have to pay for shipping. Try to get the sentry key stuff too, such as the whole steering wheel with everything on it.

Tell him if he will throw in the steering colum with everything needed for that you will do it. And then take the deal cause thats a good deal.

I tried to talk him down to $2,500, he said he'd work with me but I don't think he's going that low. He got the whole wrecked car for $3,100 and has to pay shipping charges etc....He wants to make profit and I'd be taking just about everything from the car.

I have a 2003 and plus I already changed out the complete interior wiring with srt-4 harnesses when I installed power windows/locks/mirrors in my car.

I'll be sure to get the sentry key stuff, and he said for the gauge cluster I'd have to throw in another $100, which I thought was a bit much since I plan on buying the entire engine from him.

I'm sure I could get the whole car for around $3500 or so. I already have the front and rear srt seats in my car, and interior wiring.

So I'll tell him that I want everything under the hood, he's a nice guy so he'll work with me.

Yeah I'm weighing both options. Buying an srt would mean being committed every month to a payment, as well as higher insurance. My car now is already paid off from my parents, so I'm trying to stick with what's free haha

yeah, start at 1000 now, then wait (do not do autobid yet!) ... wait till about 5 hours left and begin to bid every hour till the last hour, then every 10 minutes, start serious bidding till about 2k (if you can keep it that low) then wait till the last few minutes and work it up to your max bid, if noone else is bidding as high. Do not go over 2.4k because you need shipping of like 400$... That is what I would do.

yep..

almost everything you need..

one thing you need to keep in mind - 05 has a de-tuned pcm from mopar mainly bc of the high deaths from the young drivers driving srt4s. Also the 05 3rd gear isnt as strong.....

the best year for the srt4 is 04.

however, a local has an 05 all out road course car and the car is holding up very strong.

Well if it stays low then I'll be extremely happy. Anything is better than the atx slushbox I have now haha.

I'm the high bidder now but reserve still hasn't been met, only 2 days left.

What are you talking about, and please, where is the proof of this? I have NEVER heard, read or even seen a thing about what you are talking about... dont go posting info like this without some sort of truth involved with it. If you have proof from a reliable source that we can see, then I will retract this statement, but that is absurd.

From my understanding, the 04 and 05 are identical tunes. The 03 started with smaller injectors and no LSD, but are easily updated with the right parts.

I really wish I could provide proofs, but I've been asked not to provide names for this information.

All I can say is, we've tested it on a 05 SRT w/ 04 and 05 S0 PCM.

out of 5 runs, the 05 S0 PCM ran a consistant of 107mph and out of 5 runs, the 04 S0 PCM ran a consistant of 111-112mph.

Mopar didnt annouce this bc they wanted to keep it quiet but I SAW the tables differences between the 04 and 05 pcm.

Keep this in mind - this only applies to the STOCK pcm. The 05 staged pcm does not get affected by this.

You guys can either call me a liar or whatever. But keep in mind, I've been around the neon scene since 96.

Im willing to bet you that not a lot of you guys know about the unreleased mopar performance grassroot motorsport PCM made for the RT/ACR motors

Actually, I do know about it, and cannot get my hands on one --- could I get one, then yeah, would be awesome. And for the record, I didn't call you a liar, I just have trouble believing something so radical without proof. I am from the Show-Me state ;)
