Stock exhaust look just so I can BS the cops!!

Post by soul_sword34 » Mon Sep 03, 2007 11:40 pm

Okay when I get my LT header installed I preferably want to get a single exit exhaust right out my drivers side rear. I already have a cut out for my current exhaust, it makes sense and with all the crowd going with dual exhausts it is different. Problem. Noise and my local police officers. Folks are getting pulled over all the time around here for modified exhaust systems. It doesn't have to be loud they just have to pull you over saying it "appears" to be a modified exhaust and then they have legal right to check. With my engine you will be able to tell even with a resonator/glasspack. So I am thinking of going with a Magnaflow dual tip and when the cop asks or inspects I can bullshit him into believing it is a stock R/T Neon exhaust direct from mother Mopar herself!! So I think the dual tips would be better for the sleeper effect. If I still get a ticket then I can bullshit the judge with pictures and dealership testimonials. Think it would work?

I find the stock r/t exhaust is nice with my lth. It's relatively quiet when I'm not on the go pedal. IMO

Yeah but its too restrictive for a 2.5 pipe with a nitrous build though.

If you're running a cutout what difference does it make what muffler you put on. If the police are as picky as you say get the quitest muffler you can find

Cherry bomb turbo is great if you need it to be nice and quiet run that and dump it out the drivers side about 6" under the car leaving your stock muffler in place.

By cutout I mean the bumper is cut out for my drivers side exhaust. Hard to BS the courts that Neons came with a drivers side exhaust.

Sounds like you have a good plan cooked up but....
if anything your going to have to prove the judge that your car is an r/t model.. car registration and vin might not match your story.. And in court its not what you can say, its what you can prove. your going to have to be careful when they stop you and make sure they write the correct citation.. Some cops give the citation where you have a mandatory appearance in court and need to take your car to your local state vehicle referee to get a full inspection to make sure you corrected the mod and then show the judge..

i got pulled for moded intake with no emissions sticker and ended up taking 4 months and 3 trips to the referee after he failed me twice.. Good luck

Don't think I'd have to prove it's and R/T seeing how SXT's can get the dual exhaust option.

i'd say dont waste your money and get and actual cutout...

that way you can drive daily with your "restrictive" 2.5" exhaust pipe and quiet muffler.

shoot... electric cutouts arn't that expensive.
