Seriously man... Its sad. I am afraid of my car.
Coolant is probably what it is then. I am gonna stop taking it to that "local garage" called Winters Auto. They replaced my oil coolant line, about 4 months ago. So maybe they didn't do a good job... I remember seeing a thread about the coolant line being close to the axle and it causing problems.
I didn't drive it at all after I parked it at the park. It got towed from there.
I was getting ALOT of backfire letting off in 1st or 2nd gear at slow speeds. Prior to that happening. POP!POP!POP!POP! Ughhh.
Learning expierences.
Not to sound like an asshole, and sorry if I do. But if you own a nice car like an SRT-4, a car that some consider a 'performace' car (at least performace oriented) why would you be scared of it? I would think someone who owns such a machine would NOT be afraid of it, know how to work on it, and know what color the fluids are in it. Not saying you don't know anything about it, cause i'm sure you do, but it seems odd to me you'd be scared of it lol. But the good thing is you're getting the right idea, everything is a learning experience (as you said). Hope you get it all figured out and fixed,

it sucks having a car broken.
As far as your electrical flickering and such, it coulda most definately been the intake hitting the +ive battery terminal. I had a grounding wire (directally from the battery to the rad support) short out on the rad and it caused my car to just die, i'd shake the car and my lights would come back on, and it was all cause of this one grounding wire, so i wouldn't doubt that the positive wire hitting something and sending a surge to into places it shouldn't be would mess something up.
As far as the fluid, if it's 'red' red it's normally tranny fluid (in autos). The stock color of the tranny fluid in manuals is a tan/light brown color. But if you replaced the tranny fluid with royal purple, it could very well be that since royal purple is...well..purple, which is close to red

Since your car is a manual, it could be coolant, but coolant it normally orange or green. When you checked it on the ground, was it more oily, or like a water? Checking for what the fluid FEELS like, as well as color will help you figure out what you're dealing with.
Let us know how everything turns out. Also, if you can be without your car for a couple days, next time something happens to it, get it towed home, do a little research and fix it yourself, it's a great learning experience, and lets you know more about what you drive. Plus, it saves on shop bills

EVERYONE hates shop bills.
Sorry if I sound like an asshole dude, I just hate seeing people having broken cars, and not know what they can do to fix it and save some money. I've seen plenty of people get taken for a crap load of money cause of some simple fixes that woulda taken a couple hours to do themselves on a Saturday. Hope everything turns out ok
