Best Engine

Hey, I was just wondering I am thinking about doing an engine swap to get more power on the track.

What engine would be the best and somewhat easiest to get? How much performance do I get out of the engine?

What else can I do to get more performance into my car?

I am gr 12 student in school, but have taken many auto courses and plan on becoming a mechanic with the army. So I do know enough about cars, just not neons in general. I used to hate them, only because of the round lights :/ till I got one for free for the 15th birthday.

And now, a few years later after finishing working on my Mr2 I want to get this car as a track racer, in grand am cup style racing.
