My stock engine sounds cammed when starting sometimes?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

My stock engine sounds cammed when starting sometimes?

Post by rmc03 » Thu Sep 06, 2007 3:41 pm

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but every once in a while, i'd say once a month, i'll start my car and it sounds like its cammed. it sits there at idle and lopes for about 10 sec until you give it a little gas then it goes to normal idle.

my only mods are: CAI / No muffler.

any ideas whats up guys? thanks - ryan

Mine does the same. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

the o2 sensor probably isn't warmed up so the motor is in open loop until the sensor begins reading a/f. that's my thought. it's not unusual. it only lasts for a few seconds after my car has sat for more than 12 hours.
ooh...there's a glimmer of the dream left!!!
