Is the tire guy bullshitting me?

Anything that has to do with wheels and tires goes here. Will a wheel fit? Ask it here. Will a tire fit your wheel? Ask it here.

So I just got the tires put on (didn't need spacers) and Im pretty unhappy with the look. I actually hate it, will never buy 45 sidewall tires again, i'll stick with 215/40/17 or 205/40/17.

I just hope time passes quick and snow comes soon, in spring a new set of 205/40/17 or 215/40/17

Sidewall is too fat for my taste, I don't like they way it looks on my car. Liked the car sooo much more when it had the 205/40/17.

dude i hated the look when i switched from 40 to 45. the tires looked to fat and like donuts. just give it about 2 weeks for the tires to break in and they start to get a nice shape.. mine look sharp and thine 2 weeks after. right now theyre to round and bulky since you just put them on.. trust me, your going to like them so much that your getting the same size next time.

They were used tires that I got crazy cheap so I believe they are already broken in.... and at the moment I hate them, yeah I think I will stop noticing them in a few weeks and it wont be a big as deal, but in my opinion the 40s look sooooo much better .... on my car atleast.

I think the 45's look better visually, as it fills teh wheel wells a little more. I always found that the 40 series looked so tiny.

Currently with my 16's with 205/50's, the wheel well looks perfect, the car looks lower, and the wheel wells look full.

yeah, on my 205/55/15's on my car, they tires look meaty and nice, lots of rubber, but not a whole bunch, fills it really nice!

a drop isn't going to affect the distance between the ground and your spring perch unless you somehow drop the strut in the housing. and spacers would negatively affect any clearance problems with the fender since it will place the tire farther out, not closer in.
