Wow, it's been a bit... New Cars!

Post by 03sxt » Sun Sep 09, 2007 6:21 pm

Okay, so things in my life aren't going so well and I haven't been around much, but I'm not going to go into any details really. However, I just picked up two new cars other day...

They're both 1999 Ford Crown Vic's that were used as police cruisers... I don't believe they're the actual Police Interceptors, but that's fine... They're still 4.6L V8's. Here's why I bought the two...

This is the original one I was going to buy... Nice and pretty. Not many body issues or parts missing... Keep in mind that both of these are retired police cruisers with about 100,000 miles on each. They were being used as parts cars. This car is beautiful, but I realized after pushing it onto the tow dolly, that it had no transmission. Doh!

Here's the donor car. It's going to hand over the tranny and a few other cosmetic parts like the doors and the trunk lid since the "pretty" car just had the vinyl decals spray painted over instead of being removed.

When all is said and done, I should have a very nice unmarked Crown Vic PI. :D I'll get to scare the shit outta' people at random and have something a bit quicker to get me to fire calls.

Oh yeah, I'm also going to put K-9 decals on the side rear windows so when I take my dog for a ride, people will be warned.

BTW, in case some are wondering... I got them for $300 a piece. Couldn't pass up the deal. I could part these bitches out (worst case scenario) and make twice my money back.

Nice! Paint the car black...STRAIGHT black...then tint the windows, get some nice black 17" Mustang "Bullit" wheels, a shiney exhaust, and beef the motor! That would be a sweet machine!

Yeah, I originally wanted a black one, but for the price, I wasn't going to be picky. The white's also growing on me, but black would be sexy. Maybe some day after I get it running and all the other small bugs worked out I'll think about that. I'm also unsure if I want to keep the steelies white or paint the gloss black... Either way, I'm going to get the chrome center hub caps for them. :)

Just looking at the pics, I would say the first one is actually an Interceptor, but that the second is just a Crown Vic.

Look for extra coolers on the car Mike, like oil and tranny and diff coolers, that should be a dead give away about their status...

Congrats on the new used cars. Let us know when you get them runnin. I honestly hate people who have those cars because it makes me think its a damn unmarked cop car so I slow down.

Good to see you back Mike. Hopefully things get squared away for you.

Looks like you have a good project on your hands. That would make a good family car too. Too bad its the Ford and not the Chevy Caprice, but hell $600 for two cars is a steal in my book.

Oh yes. I'm excited to get the car running and getting all the good parts together and make her all pretty. My goal is to get it running (obviously) and make it a clone to an unmarked white police cruiser with maybe a few small dress-up accessories. But I want people to have to question it. :)

As far as the loudspeaker... I already have that covered with my 100w Federal Signal siren that I'm using in my Neon. That's going in the Vic when I get everything situated. :) I might have to destroy the unmarked look someday though, since I might pick up a full size lightbar for the roof for the fire department. Then I'll look like a damn cop.

Neon and the bike is definitely on the back burner for now. House and winter car are primary concerns at the moment. ;)

Dude where did you go to get those? I've been wanting to get one for awhile but I don't know where to go.

If I had one it'd be either white or black (duh) but it would be SLAMMED.....

Uh, no.

Jess, I got them locally from a guy that bought them from the City. He just had them sitting around and the junkyard was going to pay him $300 a piece for them. So, he said if I matched that price, I could have 'em. There's one left, but not in quite as good of shape as the ones I have.

Sick, I want a crown vic those things are sick. Super comfy and decent power. Mob mobile for sure. Drop it a hair, paint it black, black tint, throw some black wheels on there, and maybe an exhaust and call it a day.

Marauder......used to be fast back in the day.....but the new ones are pigs, very depressing for the namesake.

Almost doesn't deserve the Marauder badge......it is a grand marquis.....

Just as an update, the one that's currently in my driveway, pictured above in front of my shed, is, in fact a Police Interceptor Crown Victoria, which makes me extremely happy. Can't wait to fire up the 235 HP 4.6 Liters of mad Ford fury.

The reason it doesn't have the Police Interceptor badges is because prior to 1999, Ford called the Police Interceptors, "P71's" and the one that's in my driveway is a 1998. I did the teaser Carfax and it's actually listed as a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor that was manufactured in Canada. Time to snag up a Police Interceptor emblem.
