My 2000 Neon - Lemme know

Post by WiTeOuT » Wed Jun 01, 2005 10:22 pm

Hey guys. Just thought I would post some old pics of the ride. These pics are from 2 years ago! But the neon was dead for one year. So I have just gotten back to modifying it. I have done some different things, but mostly interior. The only difference is that I painted the outter door pillars white (where you touch to shut the front door). Allright...open season....lemme know what ya'll think.

Sorry had to post CarDomain Link

Hahaha...yeah Josh I actually bought that off of Modern Performance. I am going to be getting the Kaminari kit in a few months, and when I do I might be looking at another Wing. So maybe if you don't have one then eh?

Hey Thanks Eddie! I actually was at a vendor show here in Nashville, and when talking the the B&M Representative, he said he would cut me the B&M Short Shifter for $45! So I obviously took that deal. I need to get some booger bushings though. Everything fit well...although reverse is a little sticky, might have been my fault in how I installed it. I topped it off with the "shorty" B&M knob. All together one of the best mods I have done on the 2nd Gen. I LOVE the difference!

I agree with everyone else - Car looks great!

Hey, I have the same radar detector! I don't use it anymore, though. Never really need it now that I don't speed as much as when I was younger and dumber. :P

Yeah man, I actually don't use it anymore either. The body of the neon only has 70,000 miles on it and it's a 2000 ( my new engine has 65K), so as you can tell I do mostly town driving. My furthest trips are to Memphis to meet with friends, or car shows around Tennessee.

I just keep the radar cause I like how I hooked it up. 8) I routed the wire behind the headliner, behind the door pillar, and straight wired it into the Ignition Fuse, so when the car comes on it does, and when I turn it off...it goes off to. Plus I am not sure I could live without that little beeping telling me hello...

I want to see how those B pillars look painted. Post some picks. You should go kina old school and get the all white taillights for the white out theme.

 That's a good enough reason to leave it in there - The way you installed it. Yeah, I miss the little greeting, too.

You know the pillars look amazing painted white. I used color match paint, and topped it off with about 3-4 coats of clear. Totally made them look wonderful. And the great thing is they are not overpowering, but they always look like they just got cleaned. :D

And as fas as the tails....I have actually thought of getting the clear tail lights before. But I believe it is Illigal here in TN ( I think I remember having researched it long back ), so all I need is trouble with the law! Who knows what mods may come in the future!!

Hey, the totally clear taillights are illegal in most states b/c of the lack of reflector. Buy them, get some red 3M reflective tape. Cut a 1" X 1" square out of it, and put that on the clears somewhere facing the rear.........poof....now they're legal.....

If you look again at the RX series, they have red reflectors on the rear bumper. That's probably how they pass.

Allrighty everyone. My CarDomain page has finally been updated! I found out a way to get them on the computer down here at the offices, and transfer them to the Web-Site. Check out all of the pages, cause I put up all new pics! Thanks a ton, and the pictures of the pillars are on Page 2. Lemme know what you all think. Later.

Now THAT would suck. Especially because it's obviously a nice camera since there's no blurring whatsoever. :D

Well I actually painted them myself. I used "Prep All'' grease remover to get all of the armor all off of them. Then scuff sanded them with 220 sandpaper. I actually took the door panel off of the car, and the un-bolted the mirrors from inside. Once off I stood the mirrors on thier base. Once clean it was easy. I used "Duplicolor" Car Match paint, and "Duplicolor" Clear Coat. I actually taped the glass off where it was. So I just took regular masking tape, and covered all black edges first, then covered the glass...it works perfectly!! I dusted the first coat on, and then continued carefully with as many coats as it took to get a good coverage. Once let that dry, I put on about 4-5 coats of clear. I let the paint dry and sit for about 2 weeks, then took them off and repeated the steps. *Reason for repeating* if you repeat you can get the mirrors to a very smooth finish.....just like your car, but if you don't they will have that bumpy finish like the plastic does. Hope this all helps.

This is very true....I should be paying attention to the road! The thing that makes these pictures SO awesome to me....is that I took them blind. 8)

I just wrapped the strap around my hand, held the camera out the window, tried to stay steady....and then click! I thought it was sweet how they turned out, cause I was'nt looking!! haha
