Tail Light Covers
I was wondering if anyone has those black tailight covers from modernperformance.com are legal or not. I been told they are illegal both night and day, also been told they are legal only during the day. I live in Kansas.

(And it's very possible they are illegal day and night. All depends on how anal the police are where you live, really.)

raul....I'm from KS, livin in NC right now with the USAF......Depending on where you live in KS, you shouldn't have a problems with the covers. I have a close friend in Wichita that used NightShades on his stock tails and never had a problem with it. I believe he still has them if you would want to trade him your stock ones for those. It would look much better tinted than with those covers. Just let me know.

Yeah, plus the covers tend to fly off at speeds over 80 mph. Not fun. I had a set on my '92 Olds Bravada and I was going to a fire call one time and saw one whip off the back of my truck... Luckily there was no one behind me.EvilCreations wrote:It would look much better tinted than with those covers. Just let me know.

OH SKIP! You should have seen his face...hahah.
BACK to the subject at hand. I agree with everyone else.....Nightshades better than covers.

I'm not too sure about the NightShades being 'repairable' if you mess up because I've never used it... But just like anything else you do to your car - You should definitely take your time to make sure it gets done right. And do real thin coats like you would if you were painting anything.raul-01 wrote:So you recommend the NightShades spray that you spray on your tail lights and it never comes off..That would suck if you did a shitty job spraying it. Does it come off at all?

See my thread in the picture post thread. I just got done useing niteshades on the amber part of my exports. Ive also used it on my side markers. If you take your time, it turns out really nice and smooth. If you plan to do the entire tail light, get some clear coat to put over it. When doing side markers, I never had a problem with them looking kind of flat, and not glossy, but on larger surfaces, you can tell its sprayed unless you use clear coat, and give them a good polish.
And yes, if you mess up. Use some lacquer thinner and a rag. It will come right off, and the lacquer wont damage the light surface. DO NOT SAND THE LENS!
As for the camaro and the T-top thing. Ive see the exact same thing happen while I was driving behind the guy. luckily i was far enough away, and the glass actually whipped up in the wind, and landed in the grass next to the road... unbroken.

NightShades is used by a few people here and I've heard of quite a few others using it for various light lenses. They all say that it's great stuff. I'm pretty sure Diablo0 used it on his side markers?raul-01 wrote:I don't know how well that shit works, probably won't buy it, seems pretty ghetto to me
