Wiring my new projector headlights- need help!!!

Post by Sexy02sxt » Tue Sep 18, 2007 1:23 pm

These headlights have 3 led bulbs on top, two halos and another led by the blinker. There are four sets of wires I need to add into my turn signal. I know which goes where, but there are so many wires that need to be wired in to the (really short) turn signal wires. :shock: Its hard to work with! Any suggestions?

I take it you got them off ebay. :P

Just splice them into each other, then splice them into your factory wires.

What are you confused about?

Take the wires from your LEDs, splice them into each other (all the whites into each other, all the blacks into each other) and splice them into your factory wiring.

Take the wires from the HALOS and do the same thing... wire all the white ones together, black ones together, and then splice them into your factory wiring.

If you don't know what wire goes to which light, get some alligator clips and hook the to your battery hook all the grounds together, assuming blak is ground and tuoch the hot to each wire and see what lights up. If the led's don't light reverse the polarity. When you find the tun signal wire splice it into your turn sig. wire. you can use a Scotch-lok 801 (3M PN#054007-06126) to splice into your wiring. Any parts store wiil have these. Wal-mart too. I recommend a little liquid electrical tape on the wres then press it together with pliers to help seal it. If you don't have a schematic for your turn/park/headlights thn pickup a test light while you're getting the scotchloks. just probe the wire while turn sig's are on the one that's blinking is the one you want. Etc. for the parking lamps if you wish to wire the halo's into them. Just try to probe the wires where you want to put the scotchloks so there aren't any more holes in the insulation than neccesary. Hope this helps. BTW you should have a test light anyways they come in handy plus they're about $4.00

I did this, but only the side led is working. The halos and top leds aren't. I wondered if maybe I did something wrong? :?

White = Power
Black = Ground

If i was at home, I'd tell you what color of the factor wiring you should splice into...

All I know, is on your parking lense harness, it has 3 wires comming off. Black = ground... so wire all your black wires into that.

Then, just as a test, take all your white wires, and splice them into one of the power wires and turn them on. If only a few LEDs light up, then you have a LED blown or something among those lines.

Where at in Michigan are you? I could easily help you do this in person.

I have the same exact lights.

The three LED's sometimes don't work out of the box. It's because the connectors wiggle loose. Reseat them. Also you need to know that LED's are ONE direction only. One way. If you reverse one in its socket, it won't light. None of them will on that chain. This is how they are different than normal filiment bulbs. So you have to make sure they all are the right way.

They aren't meant to stay on as parking lights, so they need to be wired off of the turn signal. You tap them into the turn signal wire for your OEM turn signal bulb. When your turn signal blinks, they blink with it. You can cut and splice with wire screw caps (you can find them at Home Depot or Lowe's), or quick taps (which is what I used). I should have done wire screw caps instead, but the quick taps worked.

The "LED" in the normal turn signal area is actually a standard small bulb. you *could* wire it with the LED's to blink, but I don't recommend it. You'd have too many wires cut and spliced into the same area. What I did was to wire them into the parking lights....

The stock turn signal bulb has three wires. One is ground (black), one is parking lights (when you turn on the headlight stick partway), and one is turn signal. The stock bulb and housing is a dual filiment, so that one bulb can be dim yellow and then blink bright yellow when you trigger the turn signal.

One of the three wires on the turn signal bulb is the parking light wire. Tap that little bulb's two wires, one into the black ground, and one into the parking light wire.

If you want more help, let me know and I can help more.

Ok, so right now, all of my black wires for the leds and halos are wired together with the turn signals black/yellow wire and all the white ones are wired into the green/red wire. Apparently thats wrong becuase the black wires need to connect to the all black ground wire. Is that right? I wanted them all to come on with parking lights and turn signals but that seems to tricky now. Thank you!!!! :D

Just make sure those LED's are facing the right way. They must ALL be facing the same way together.

An easy way to test each one is to buy a 9-volt battery and use a couple short pieces of wire to touch the two contacts on the bulbs.
