Motor Mount insert install HELP!!!!!!
i am currently as we speak installing the motor mount inserts on my car, problem is i have the top insert in but the screw doesn't go through all the way (middle of insert bolt). Also it was a bitch but i pushed the insert through on the bottom mm, but now i can't get the damn bolt aligned!! please some anyone help me out! i was looking for an easy install but the aligning of the bolts has made it a PITA
I take this to mean you have the insert in and the bolt through the mount with insert but can not align the bolt back to the block......
If done one at a time just rock the engine (a friend is helpful, must provide with beer (if not old enough at least a Coke)) by hand and should realign itself. Use of a jack too, may also help.
If you have both off concentrate on one, bolt it up and then the other.

well i got em but the top bolt is not through all the way, and neither is the bottom, the bottom bolt is in more than the top but the washer is still loose. we tightened as much as we could, tried rockin the engine and all but it was the best we could do. Any chance my engine will be falling out! lmao
those bolts are to be torqued fairly tightly. there is definitely something wrong if you haven't gotten the bolts all of the way into the torque struts and snug. something weird is going on here since this shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to do. take some pics and let us see if maybe you've got the inserts in wrong.

this is how it curretly sits, the bottom mount is the same except the end of the screw is flush through the hole where is should be sticking out. i tried rocking the motor, jacking it up, etc and still wasn't able to get the screw in all the way

i was just thinking that maybe you did indeed cross thread the holes. put a jack under the car to support the passenger's side. pull both of the torque struts off and take a look at the holes. maybe it's just a matter of taking a step back and starting over.

well my car is going to the shop, mainly to get the bolts aligned properly, and a few other things checked, i was at work all day today so didn't get a chance to work on it. anyway i'm thinking your suggestion would work SGTBRAD but i don't want to risk damaging anything anymore than it MIGHT be. its my friend's dads shop so i'm sure he will hook me up! ill let you guys know what happens tomorrow. thank you for your suggestions!!!

sorry about this, but it's something that really erks me. it's a bolt, not a screw. a screw has some sort of tool slot on the head, whether it be slotted, phillips, allen, torx, whatever. Bolts require the use of a wrench, socket, or nut driver, etc. /rant
as long as it's tight against the washer (washer unable to move) and it's not threaded in only a few threads, you'll be fine. there's no reason it would HAVE to stick out the other side to retain the motor mount properly. there's no mechanical advantage to that. drive it for a few days and recheck it. if it really worries you, remove it, put some loc-tite on the first 3 threads of the bolt, and reinstall it.
Edit: can someone who has done it please describe the torque strut alignment process, as i believe my lack of doing this is causing some problems with my car since my insert install, and i can't find a haynes manual anywhere. i knew the car would vibrate with the race prothanes, but it's steadily getting worse. (not a thread jack, as OP should do this too).

i didn't mean to refer it as a screw, typing fast not paying full attention=mistakes.
hopefully you get your problem figured out, i got the BOLTS in properly, so i'm all good.
what other problems are you experiencing, also what do you mean when you are referring to the torque strut alignment process?

apparently whenever you remove the torque strut (dunno if removing the bolts from just the block ends matters) the torque struts might possibly twist out of alignment? i dunno, just wondering if doing whatever the haynes manual says will help the worsening vibration i'm getting. it used to be only when i started the car i'd get a hard vibration, now it's pretty constant, alot more noticeable when starting in first and shifting. i bet everyone that said my clutch is going in my loss of power thread are right, but i'd still like to do whatever the haynes says, just to be safe.
