JBL or Alpine Speakers
Wanting to replace all stock speakers for one brand of aftermarket speakers. What are your opinions. Will be using the same brand for subwoofers also.
Thanks

I would go with a mix to be honest. Unless you were really trying to show off some brand with support directly from the company at a discounted price... it's not worth it.
Front components: CDT, OZ, JL VR (or higher), high end Boston Acoustics.
Rear 6x9s: Anything better than what you find at Best Buy/Circuit City. I like my Clarion ProAudio, I like my JL VRs.
Subs: Adire, SoundSplinter, JL, Alpine Type-X, or similar.
I haven't seen very many companies who have been able to produce superb quality speakers in all sizes for car audio (with the exception of maybe three companies). JL comes pretty damn close to hitting the mark. Alpine makes some sweet high end equipment, but I don't like their tweeters. JBL makes some decent subs but their components are kind of lacking a little in the midbass.
If you want all of your speakers to come from the same company, you may as well go with Sony. If you look at where each of the speakers are made for Sony, you will see some 6.5" components made in one plant, others made somewhere else. You can't really depend on the speakers being perfect match just by brand alone, you have to listen to it installed in your car to really get an idea.
Check around for the components you like and purchase the best one for each speaker location.
If I had to choose between JBL and Alpine, I'd go JBL simply because it isn't Alpine.

Decided to go JBL. Bought the dash speakers on ebay. Will be using the GTO Series. Not sure for the doors (2-way, 3-way, or components). Then don't know for the rear 2 ways or 3 ways. For Sub I will be going 1 12" mounted in the spare tire location. (JBL GTO1220D 12" DVC 2 OHM SUBWOOFER) with a JBL CS200.1 running at 1 ohms hooked up. Let me know what you guys think.

I've always loved the debate on the 2-way < 3-way < components. To be honest it really makes no difference as long as it sounds good. Something to think about though, quality speaker sets generally come matched in components rather than coax and the higher quality sounding coax are generally the 2-way design. However, some companies work with a bling factor and have created 4, 5, & 6 way coax speakers. To me, they sound no better.
The sub should be quite good with that amp giving a decent amount of bass... just not something to go to competions with.

Northland are(n)a. I work up by the airport and go to skewl at maple weeds. If I'm actually at home, it's a bit of a shock.05srt4clone wrote:Looking for show and thump. Where you live around KC we should meet up some time.
