Strut HELP!!!

Post by Knightryda » Wed Oct 03, 2007 12:07 am

Does anyone know if the bracket that holds the sway bar on the rear strut can be removed. for some reason the bracket broke on my and the sway bar on the passenger side broke the mount and i would like to avoid just buying a new strut. i was wondering if the bracket can be removed.

If you were very, very careful with a grinder, you could cut it off.

Brackets can be purchased here http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=19840

You could just swap your rear struts from left to right so that the old broken mount is on the opposite side and then bolt the new ones on. Or you could just upgrade to some performance struts.

if you do this, ***MAKE SURE*** that you also change the top mounts - left only works on the left and right only works on the right.... It sucks to have almost all the nuts&bolts on only to realize the topmount is on the wrong side...

....not that *I* would er, ever do something as :tardbang: that but, er....ummmmmm. <sigh> Alright. it was me.

Just stick to fart cans, AEM stickers, and park benches bolted to your trunk lid for a little while while you learn the ropes, OK?

yea i called dodge and they said that i would need to get a new strut. now my dilemma is i dont want to buy 1 new strut when my car has 84000 miles on it and i will probably need to replace the other ones in like 20000 miles. i would really like to get the mopar stage 3 strut and coilovers but i dont want to spend 1200 dollars. i might just take the rear sway bar off untill i need new struts.

please for the love of god don't buy stage 3 mopar coilovers, even if you fall into a ton of money. mopar performance parts are way too expensive when you can get the same thing (or better in the case of the coilovers, a few places offer more adjustability height and dampening-wise for a couple hundred $ less) (ok i know you can't buy the coilovers from the original manufacturer) from the original maker for a lot less.
