Wiring pinout for the Kicker Livin Loud sub/amp

Post by jonnymopar » Fri Oct 12, 2007 10:56 am

I want to grab one of those little stock Kicker subs. I heard one at Carlisle this past summer and it's plenty for me. I just need to know what wires go to it. As far as making it work with the stock head unit, I'll be able to figure it out. I think I read somewhere that there are 4 wires going to it. Thanks.

i have not actually seen one of these but every amp basically has the same wires

+12v power
remote turn on lead
ground wire
rca/line inputs
speaker wires to amp

once it stops raining, i'll go take a look in the trunk.

the livin loud kicker amp doesn't have terminals like an aftermarket amp. it's set up to accept a plug from the factory wiring harness, and if i remember right, it is only 4 wires. one of course is power, one should be ground, and the other two should be signal input. i don't know if you'll have the whip for the harness to plug into. as for connecting to the radio, i never had the sxt radio out, and havn't taken out the srt one either, but i believe it's run off the same wiring harness that every neon has.

i'll get back to ya with pics asap.

Hey I appreciate it man. Your car was the one that made up my mind anyway. That's plenty loud for my taste.

i just checked the wiring from the body harness, it's 6 wires, not 4. body harness and amp pigtail wiring colors:

Body harness:
Red
Green
Black
Purple
Blue w/ Red stripe
Brown w/ red stripe

Amp Pigtail:
Red
Green
Black
Green w/ Black stripe
Light Grey
Dark Grey w/ Black Stripe

i couldn't get the connector apart, and didn't even think to check which wire connects to which, but i'll do it when i get back from best buy. i took pics of the connector, but you can't really tell colors or which wires are striped from the crappy pics. 6.1 megapixels and they still look like shit.

if you have the cash to spend and want to do it the plug and play way, you're going to need the body harness from a livin loud equipped neon (possibly head unit too, i don't know for sure), i'm not sure if that harness will adversely affect anything else in your car. you'd have to check. i'll post the couple crap pics and which wire goes to which when i get back.

Body harness-> Amp pigtail
red-> red
black-> black
green-> green w/ black stripe
purple-> dark grey w/ black stripe
blue w/ red stripe-> light grey
brown w/ red stripe-> green

triple checked the wiring, altho the harness side may not be accurate. there's a possibility mine has been rewired.

I couldn't get the cover off the top to see the wiring going from the amp to the sub. i'll do it tomorrow while i'm at my parents house.

Thanks for the help. This is something that I'm definitely considering, as I'm not really into systems that either cost more or weigh more than my car. I use the trunk alot and my strut tower brace is in the way enough. Don't need more taking up space, so this would work out nicely. Again, thanks for the help.
