Exhaust.
1st thing I have a feeling I have this in the wrong area, so after reading this let me know if I'm good or not. Well, I think this is probably a dumb question, but I am a newbie. I want to MAYBE put a different exhaust on my car. My question is...How do you get it so your exhaust comes directly out the back instead of having to go side 2 side like the Stock muffler. I take it you'd have to get a custom one and do some welding, but I have no idea. Let me know what the deal is, thanks.!!

not sur ewhat you mean - are you wanting a straight through like exhaust? Not sure but all it takes is a muffler shop...
You can get a canister style muffler and let it go out the back and not "side 2 side"...?

Idk I might of worded that horribly lol. I was trying to say... Pretty much you know how the stock mufflers are on Neons... side 2 side with a dump. Well I want it to just come straight out the back without having to make it side 2 side. I just don't know how to make it so it's not like hanging there. If that makes any sense. A straight piped exhause, like cherry bombs sense that's what I got but I want it straight out the back, don't wanna have to make it side 2 side like the stock one, that's how I have it now and it looks ugly IMO. *shrugs*
I know what you're trying to say. You have several options. The most popular exhaust for our cars is a dual tip. People use everything from expensive cat-back exhausts to bolting up an srt-4 rear section to the stock midpipe. A good and inexpensive way is to do the latter, then weld in a decent sized glasspack (i.e. Cherrybomb) to lower the tone a bit.
If you dont want dual exhaust, you have a few other options. First, you could have a muffler shop weld a cannister style muffler to some pipe, then bend that pipe so that it would bolt right up to the stock midpipe. Second, you could have a muffler shop bend up a straight pipe to replace the stock muffler from the axle-back, and even have them weld in a glasspack somewhere in the middle to keep the sound down. This would allow you to choose any tip you like. As a general rule, the longer the glasspack, the quieter the tone. A 24" cherrybomb is an example of a short one, while 32" is considered long. Choose a place in that range, depending on how loud you want it, and go from there.
Also, keep in mind that some cutting of the rear fascia is required to properly fit most exhaust tips. A dual exhaust being a prime example of this. You can get around it, but if looks are important to you it is something you should consider when planning the setup. Hope that helps.
