Squeaking when wheel turned left.

Post by danman132x » Sun Oct 21, 2007 2:08 pm

My car has developed a squeek when I turn the wheel left, even slightly ~10 degrees. It is directly related with speed, faster you go, the more it squeaks. It doesn't do it at a creep, nor highway speeds (unless the sound is covered up...) I checked the lugnuts, and they are tight. What are some causes of squeaking?? I'm going to pull the tire off and check everything, but it would be nice to hear some advice.

Hmmm. Does it go away when the brakes are applied? if it only does it in one direction, possibly the hub bearing getting a little slack letting the rotor touch the pad. you could also try lifting the front so the wheels are off the ground with suports under the lower arms so the suspension is loaded, and turn the wheels in gear to see if the squeek is still there w/o load on the bearings. just don't spin the tires too fast or for an extended amount of time, or you may damage the differential. not to mention if the tires aren't balanced 100%.
Edit: also check the rubber boot on the axle it may be contacting something.

This may not be it, but when did you last get your chassis greased?
