To SRT-D or Not?

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

To SRT-D or Not?

Post by kevo » Fri Jun 10, 2005 10:01 am

As ive said in a few of my posts, i cant stand the damn front fascia to the 03. To me it makes the car look like a grandmamobile. I have a few buddies with srts so i get so i have quite a few hand me down parts, most of which are useless to me. I was lucky enough to get an srt spoiler and front bumper. I was going to install the front bumper but i thought to myself that the car would look way too ricey like that. I really want to get rid of the fascia so i figured, if i put it on ill cover up the nostrills and at least make it look like the srt-design neon. Ive even got some srt side skirts (that need some work) and a buddy of mine is holding a silver rear bumper in tampa so basically this could very well be a full conversion. What do you all think?

heres a quick and nasty gimp-chop that i made at work to give me a good idea of how things will turn out, its from an old wallpaper i found on google.

yeah somewhat like yours, it will have the nostrills plugged but it will have the built in front lip, side skirts and srt rear aswell. if i do go through with this ill roll the back center of the bumper too. Still, i need some more opinions.

i'm really not a fan of my stock front either, but then again, I also feel that if your car isn't a SRT then it shouldn't look exactly like one. I'm all for "borrowing" parts, but do SOMETHING different. Be original.

well at the same time your right. its too much srt parts. not even the SRT-D has this many srt parts on it. Actually, the only thing it has from the SRT-4 is the spoiler.

personnaly I don't realy like the looks of the SRT-4 (dont take it personnaly) but the big front bumper and the HUGE wing...not my type, sorry. It might look much better with out the SRT-4 wing.

a kit that personnaly i like is a kit from erebuni called the shogun style 875. I never saw it on a neon, but it looks nice, not huge, could look very clean on a neon. But the car that erebuni shows it on has a big wing, muffler and alot of stickers, imagine it without any of that. 8)

I AGREE totally Tnt.

The two kits i like the most are probably this one and the Kaminari. I am going to go with the Kaminari, but this kit looks sweet & smooth.

They are clear tail lights, the big thing before altezzas. They are discontinued, but you might find some on ebay sometimes, and I think they are illegal as well.

i thought you disappeared off the face of the earth! LOL!

anyways, after taking some time to think about it i decided to more than likely not go through with this. even pluggin the holes makes it look like rice and thats not what im going for right now. I think i just made a big mistake buying this car in general so ill probably be getting rid of the body parts, mods and then the car pretty soon.

If you're gonna get rid of the stuff I know josh needs a couple pieces from the sideskirts. The lower front passenger and rear passenger door cap. Just a thought.

yeah i talked to josh already about his sideskirt situation. Im just pretty hung up on what to do atm with this. Id really like to change the look of the car but at the same time im not sure if the car is worth modding as far as i would like to do it.

what is the car worth to you....me personally, i love my little neon, and unless i start having major problems with.....i plan on keeping it for a long time. i don't have a neon for speed, it's mainly for comfort and style....i do want to get better performance out of it, but as far as speed goes......thats what the green beast on the left is for........162 mph...yeah baby!

I say do it, what the hell :) I like the look of the SRT more than that Erbuni kit, it looks like a mouth or something on the front there????
Plus the 03 has different headlights so there would be a funny gap there :(

A friend of mine has the Erebuni kit. I think it looks rather nice and it's pretty uncommon. Here's a pic of his car next to mine.
