I selected the motherboard and processor listed above because it gives me more than plenty of power, while also allowing for upgrading down the road if need be with a PCIE x16 slot and 2 PCI-32bit slots. For the time being, i'll be using the onboard video and sound. The video is the nVidia Quadro NVS 210S w/ nForce 430 southbridge. Audio is High Definition 8channel. If the audio is anything like that in my desktop here, it will be perfectly fine. The PC will be built into the dash, behind where the radio normally would sit.

The door handles both inside and outside will be shaved. Outside driver door handle will be replaced with a single sealed chrome push-button to activate the door popper. Window switches will be removed, as with the mirror adjustment switches(or actually just removed from visibility, inside the door panels), same with the lock switches. The ignition cylinder(key) will eventually be removed, so the computer will control if/when the car can be started. A button will be present on the dash, near the screen. This will be the power button for the PC. Once the computer begins its boot up procedure, the car's RUN and ACC wiring will be activated by relays. Once computer is completely booted up, a password will be required to enter windows. Once in windows, the Fusion Brain software will load automatically. On the first screen, there will be a "START" button which will activate the car's starter. Once the car is parked after driving, shutting down the computer will cause the car to shut off until next time. I am fully aware of the possible problems this setup can cause if the computer happens to crash while driving. I will make provisions to prevent this...so please dont jump to the gun and suggest otherwise

There are also plans for performance enhancements for the car, but that's probably not for this forum...

I will post more as things progress...

- Matt

EDIT:

Added to planning list is the following: Bosch wideband Oxygen Sensor, unit to read O2 Sensor, MAP Sensor, Throttle Position Sensor, Vehicle Speed Sensor.

yea we did. remember... talked about re-doing the entire interior, making the back seat a one seater, installing something among these lines into the car. shaving everything off your car. making it so if someone stole your car, after they got about 50ft away it would just shut off. i'm not pulling this out of my ass.

if i was on my old computer i'd bring up the chat logs. :P

oh well...

most of those plans are out the window since i have the srt seats and door panels...

ZeroChad: i plan on posting up a basic how to as things progress......

this definatly isnt something for the faint of heart...obviously. but for anyone who wants to attempt it, i'll include wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, and skin layout information...

Chris: you know it man...DEFINATLY in well before carlisle :)

Joe: what Andpto said... using a CarPC, and a nifty little device called the Fusion Brain, you can read sensors, activate switches, control climate settings, etc...you name it, it can probably do it(except for modify sensor signals, lol...but they're working on that ;-) )

Dan: pretty easy man...It has a graphical skin designer, but I prefer to code the skin instead.....

Once I have my skin finished, anyone who wants it can have it since i'm no longer a vendor on here...just understand that this is not a cheap investment and may be more financially overwhelming than some of us are willing to take on.... in total i'll be spending enough to have bought bc inverted coilovers, pay shipping, and have some left over for other small stuff, to give you an idea of how much this project REALLY is gonna cost......

Edit: added LOTS of info to the first post...

the only thing ide need a keyboard is for the media player... I'll be using CentraFuse, and it already has a keyboard build into the program, so no need for a keyboard other than to log into the computer itself :)

I will be ordering one of them small folding keyboards, the kind that look like the old Palm V aluminum cases...

NeonOn19s: folding keyboard can be tucked away.... wireless is bulky... i'de rather have a folding keyboard i can store in the center console :)

Andpto: Computer will be inside the dash, not in a case, but bolted down to a frame i'm going to build...
