What do you think might be the problem? And it makes this sound only when the car is cold.

When the enginge is cold (and sometimes at operating temp) the pistons are a bit too small for the bore, so when they change direction at the end of the stroke they cock in the bore and the skirt of the piston slaps the cylinder wall.
Where else can you put cock, skirt and slap in a paragrah, and be writing about something not sexually related!
Edit: after watching that again it seems like the knock is in time with the belt marks going around. but it could just be that one cylinder is making the noise so the belt would be close to the same spot every time. Can't see a belt making that much noise.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

I was kinda leaning towards the same. Can also get a 17mm wrench and put on the tensioner for the a/c slash power steering pump belt and CAREFULLY pull (or push) so there is enough slack for the accesories to stop moving that will eliminate any noise from the belt, tensoiner, PS pump, and A/C. The only other thing that I've experinced making a knock is a water pump but that was on a big block chrysler and it wasn't as consistent as yours. Besides you can't disconnect the belt to the waterpump on a 2.0 without making noises that you don't ever want to hear!BlackRoseRacing wrote:That noise is not piston slap....
For the heck of it get some penetrating oil(WD40,JBlast) whatever your prefrence, and while the car is idling cold like that, spray it on the PS belt to see if the noise goes away. Be warned though, there will be splatter...
