Its like having a little gerbil running on a wheel (hooked to an air pump) really fast, trying to feed air to the 4 air-thirsty squirrels powering our engines. Poor little guy just can't keep up.

I haven't used a blow dryer in years. I just use a towel to dry my hair, much faster.

NO

Air needs a place to compress in order to make pressure above 14.7psi, arbitary number or massively important detail in making power?

Gerbils FTW!

Think about it, if they had an electric 12 volt motor that could turn a turbine with enough force and rpm to make 3 to 10 psi over atmosphere, the alternator would use all the power it made just to run the thing! just like electric fans VS belt driven, the only time you truely get better mpg is when the fan is off. Any time there is a fair amount of amp draw, the alternator is sucking HP.
