Head checking question

Post by Nalayah » Wed Oct 31, 2007 9:34 pm

When removing the head from my Neon to check the cylinders and valves, will I need a new gasket to replace the old one? Or will it remain intact after the head removal?

My car has nearly 83k miles for reference.

First off, wrong forum this belongs in engine, not How To. But anytime you pull the head you should replace the gasket.

You should replace the head gasket after every removal. You don't have to, but you should; 9/10 times it'll likely leak something. I know I'd hate to go through all the trouble of putting things back togather only to find a leak of some kind and then having to tear into everything again to properly replace the gasket. No to mention it should be replaced around 110k anyways.
