Components Needed for N2O

Post by Nalayah » Fri Nov 02, 2007 12:06 am

Yes, I've searched, and found some information, but not info on what I'll need to upgrade from stock.

For my Neon, what things will I need to upgrade in the engine (pistons, rings, et cetera) so it'll be able to take N2O? I'm assuming that rings at the very least is a given, but what else? Seals, gaskets, anything like that?

And, what kind of boost can be expected from stock with different systems?

EDIT: Changed "NOS" to "N2O," thanks for pointing out my mistake.

this belongs in forced induction :D I moved it for ya - also, this is what I have heard - on a 50 shot, you are fine with stock components, and I think one stage colder plugs??? :D

Please, also, do not call it NOS, NOS is a brand name, Nitrous Oxide Systems... the term is actually n2o or nitrous, or nitrous oxide... :D Just saving you from some possible flaming.

:withstupid:

50shot is fine for a stock motor...

if you wanna run more than a 50shot, replace the pistons, rods, bearings and piston rings...

upgrading to ARP Main, Rod, and Head studs wouldnt hurt either...

I miss my neon at times. She treated me well and taught me a lot about cars in general. I will always have a special place in my heart for these cars. Heres to the 2gn community.

Ok, I'll keep that in mind :). Thanks a bunch.

Does this mean that the flaming NOS stickers bought at AutoZone DON'T add 1/2 foot-pound of torque per sticker?

Anyway... what kind of kit and plugs would you recommend for a 50 shot? How much does the actual N2O cost? Cherry or Blueberry pie?

I couldn't find any on MP, but a bit of Googling took me to here. For $700 it sounds like a good deal. Thoughts?
