Tutorial!
So, I know the sticky thread is a pretty detailed LIST of what you need, why can't some one give a decent How-To or Tutorial of the swap. (srt into 00-02 & srt into ngc)
Im not talkin simple stuff like take the axels out first or anything like that, Im talking little things that people run into, and such.
Anyone for a bump?

you know how many pages it would take to do a How To on an srt swap? Sorry man, I can't help you on this one...
All i can suggest is spending the money to get the Factory Service Manual for your car and for an SRT4 and follow it...thats the BEST how to...

FSM...that is your best bet...
nothing has more information than the FSM
This is all i'm allowed to say. I have reasons for not telling more, but due to certain differances between a 2gn staff member and i, i'm not allowed to say exactly why i wont do anything more to help
sorry guys, all i can suggest is the service manual because it has every spec and instruction and diagnostics information you could ever think of...

ask specific questions...
My limited help is the result of a decision made by the 2gn staff. I'm unable to do and say certain things, for in my opinion unjust reasons...so please dont tell me what i do and dont do is wrong.
I can take screen shots of a few FSM pages if it helps, but in the end...buying a factory service manual is your best bet.
I'm leaving this thread now before i get myself in trouble. if you need specific help with a swap problem, you can PM me and i can provide guidance.

we're doin the swap next week, and i needed to know the little issues.

While it's a fantastic idea there just isn't any good way of doing it since people have different ways of doing things and I don't think anyone yet has documented their swap well enough to put something together to say what needs to be disconnected or unbolted and show pictures
I mean I could probably sit here at work and type something up but it won't be as in depth as to say what what plugs you need to disconnect.
I can say "Swap Body Harness" but do I or anyone else need to go so far as to say "Remove 4 bolts that hold front driver seat in, Remove 4 bolts that hold front passegner seat in, Remove rear lower seat by lifting up, remove rear seat back by removing 4 T-55 (i think) bolts, lifting up and pulling out" things like that... I'd just like to know just how indepth this how-to needs to be

I'd like to add that most of us that have done this or are going to do it are in the mind set that it just needs to get done, period. No messing around, work work work, gotta have my car running by the end of the weekend kinda deal.
Yes, a how to would be awesome.

Keep in mind it's a pretty strait forward swap wher as long as you have a list of the parts that need to be swapped over and an FSM like Matt said you're pretty much golden. By that I mean to take the motor out it's pretty strait forward to just remove everything thats in the way of getting it out where if you take it out through the bottom you'd remove the K-Frame and all of the suspension components and just keep disconnecting wires and lines noting where they go when you start reassembling things and just keep disconnecting things until the motor is free and able to be removed

I dunno but you could post up a section where the basic parts of the swap are broken down. They wouldn't be in any order, because people start at different spots. But when you get to that particular part you can look at that section. When people get a chance they can fill in the details, and post pictures, at a server that is ran by 2gn so they don't disappear over time. But it would have to be heavily moderated at first, because you don't want a million posts to read through just for one step. Maybe have this section stickied and when the info is posted in the regular sections it could be transposed to the special section only by moderators. Most if not all this is in the Forums already so it wouldn't take long to fill this up. Heres a quick list I came up with I'm sure theres more.

Granted, an in-depth tutorial as you propose would be GLORIOUS but, I am more or less looking for a Don't forget about these!.
Like a little blurb about the SKIM.
A little spot about the body harness and NVLD (maybe a copy and paste just needs to be done.)
I have read a little about hood clearance issues...(just some little things all put together)
Some clutch issues with the 00, 01, 03-05...that kind of thing.
More or less, someone to condense all the stickys into one large sticky that could be like the "Wal-Mart Superstore of SRT-4 SWAPS!"
Im worried about little things that are going to make my life hell, because I wasn't prepared for them.

Very true since everyones swap is different. I'll see what I can work on when I get to work on breaking some things down and typing up what I know and start to build on it using everyones knowledge for doing things. There are a lot of things I don't know the technical names for like the vacuum line coming off the Purge Valve... I wish I could provide a picture but it's a little hard to now since it's buried behind the engineracer12306 wrote:Rule 1 of working on cars: there will always be little things that will make life hell.
I'll see what I can work up though when I get to work tomorrow... It might take awhile but like you said, it's mainly condensing everything thats in the sticky above so it might not be too hard then if someone says "How do you remove this?" or whatever then it can be added on through time so I'm not typing things that are too in depth when they're pretty strait forward. I'm not so sure if I have to list everything as in depth as to say how to remove a strut when if you're doing a motor swap it will most likely be something you already know how to do.

Besides the SRT-Swap sticky that we had the only real major and extremely useful thing that was hard to find was the re-flash and re-key methods for the SKIM (another reason why I posted it again in my project log).
If or when this gets put together, it would be nice to just have straight info and no conversation in it. I think that of all things is what is needed most of all the threads on this discussion. Just something that has the info and no having to wade through the unnecessary stuff. If changes need to be made, that could go through the moderator or administrator.
