on first guess, if it leaked inside the car, i'd say heater core. but it shouldn't be clear, it should look kinda like a sick piss green. it's coolant. if that's what it is, the heater core isn't going to be your last problem from it. boo for straight water as coolant.

Is it leaking inside the car or outside? Which side of the dash also?

Does your A/C still work? (if you have it) could be refrigerant oil. the freon will evap before you even see it but the oil will be all that remains. could be the evaporator core/lines for your A/C. That's the only thing I can think of that would fit your description.

Unless there is a slime monster lurking under your dash :runaway:

Kidding......

^^^That is what I was thinking, something related to the A/C system.

If it feels like it has some lubricity to it then that might be it.

Maybe put a bowl or something to catch more. Some liquids may appear clear in small quantities but at different colors when there is some accumulation.

it's water. If you leave the vent open to circulate from outside the car, when it rains you'll have water puddle up in the dash somewhere. When you start driving the car it'll slosh around and pour out onto the passenger side floor.

My 00 did it. Close the vents so that it circulates in the car and you'll get minimal or no water spilling onto your passenger floor.

Is that something they fixed for later model years?

heck my 05 does that sometimes, even if the knob is turned to recirc. Just depends on how hard it rains. I've looked under the windshield and cannot find any shortage of sealant around the firewall/dash area to cause this. Anyone with any ideas? I'm afraid of the floor rusting over time!

If you believe it's coming in the fresh air inlet, why not remove the wipers , the cowl and fab a deflector over the inlet screen? may take some thought, but thinking is free. I have had my Neon for 3.5 years now, never use recirculate and haven't had one issue. Either I'm lucky or there is some other defect. Hell, just duct tape the opening closed and if it doesn't leak with a good soaking from a garden hose then you found the problem. If it still leaks, you've got more searching...

I just left the vents closed and rarely ever had a problem. Dont' know why exactly it did it but it did. Just figured i'd tell you it was water. If it does happen again figure out a way to let your car air out so you don't start going things.
