Code 0068

Post by Nalayah » Tue Nov 06, 2007 10:11 pm

According to the internet, it's my throttle position correlation. My Neon started throwing it after I tried a full on acceleration from about 15 MPH to 90 MPH (long, empty stretch of highway). It's revving up extremely high, and won't let me get above 4.5k RPM (made going up a hill hard).

Any idea what would have caused this? I don't want to have to shell out for a new throttle body.

:-k ...wonder if your throttle plate is going past full open. Not sure if that would throw a code. #-o Too late to think...need sleep

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.

Took a look at the throttle plate, was working just fine. Local mechanic said it was probably the motor inside. Going to get it looked at and probably fixed tomorrow.

no, no neons are drive by wire...

taken right from the FSM:

P0068-MANIFOLD PRESSURE/THROTTLE POSITION CORRELATION

When Monitored:
With the engine running and no MAP Sensor or TP Sensor DTC’s set.
Set Condition: The PCM determines a valid range in which the TP Sensor should be, at
a given RPM/Load. The actual TP Sensor voltage is then compared to this value. If the TP
Sensor voltage does not fall within the expected range within a predetermined time an
error will be detected. Two Trip Fault.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
GOOD TRIP EQUAL TO ZERO
HIGH RESISTANCE IN MAP (K7) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE TO GROUND IN MAP (K7) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
MAP SENSOR
HIGH RESISTANCE IN (K1) MAP SIGNAL CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE TO GROUND IN (K1) MAP SIGNAL CIRCUIT
HIGH RESISTANCE IN (K4) MAP GROUND CIRCUIT
PCM
TP SENSOR OPERATION
HIGH RESISTANCE IN TP SENSOR (K6) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE TO GROUND IN TP SENSOR (K6) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
TP SENSOR
HIGH RESISTANCE IN (K22) TP SIGNAL CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE TO GROUND IN (K22) TP SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT
HIGH RESISTANCE IN TP (K167) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT
PCM

Yoiu dont have a DRBIII, so i wont bother posting the test procedures...

were you working on the car before you got the code. I installed a short ram and replaced the bellows, i was on the freeway when the engine started to rev high on its own. I got the same code before i pulled over and turned out I didnt tighten the clamps on the bellows and i had a majore vacume leak..

I wasn't working on it right before. I think that the tubing that connects to the intake manifold wasn't properly tightened up after removing the air filter housing to replace the camshaft position sensor is a bit loose. I'll check it out tonight.

Thanks!

Yeah, I knew that also, just making light of what his "mechanic" told him. Just a reminder of why as long as I'm able to work on my car I will.

Well turns out you folks were right. The tube wasn't slipped onto the male throttle body end properly. Slipped it on, did a computer reset, and things are fine :D.
