bone-yard-racing wrote:^ Race cars are loved, hell this isnt even a race car its a time trial car (thats right I am not cool eneough to say time attack). Oil, trans, brake, PS, coolant changed after every event (monthly) Brakes on an almost constant basis. Probally stored in a warm locked garage. Engine dosent sit at idle 1/2 the time its run. I want to be a race car

. If I had $16,000 I would have bought it the second it went up for sale. I love the way the car looks. Just keep it the way it is. If anybody asks you why there's no back seat, hit them with a shovel and then ask them if thats where they drive from

your my hero!
...yup.. I changed oil every weekend.. and if I did a 2 day event, I'd change the oil at the track just cause I wanted to be safe.
I went through one axle because of a freak bad axle from the factory because it sheered at the spot where the axle nut goes (you could see the bubble where it sheered showing the lack of metal integrity there....) How that thing passed quality control I'll never know but hey, better to happen at a track than on the expressway going 70mph next to a semi-truck.. at least I only had myself to deal with on the road and no other traffic when it went..
Wheel bearings, went through 4 sets *but 3 of the changes were preventative before needed just cause fooled me once, shame on me, then I went for excessive changes to keep up-to-date
And oh, the 'suspension' I was so hard on lives on in another car...
The brakes on the car now are brand new, new fluid, new calipers, new rotors, new pads.. so better than when I got the car so never 'abused'
Anyone who drives my car, and then drives a car some teenager 'beat on' through potholes, launched from every traffic stop, etc. will clearly see how nice mine drives in comparison...
I also didn't do any crazy engine upgrades like some people who turn up boost to 30psi and then wonder why they break things? I kept mine nice and stock.. no changing of wastgate or boost control or any of that crap.. stock was just fine with me.
How many kiddies with their SRT4 actually wait to let the turbo spool down and cool off before shutting down their car? I always did/do!
So who's got more 'beat on' SRT4s out there?
The test drive is a clear indicator of 'beat on' or not.. as is the sound of the engine, the feel of the steering and suspension, trans, etc.
I changed the trans fluid almost as often as the oil changes (although it was never 'burnt' or discolored I did it for preventative and as a way of watching for any abnormal changes).
so yeah.. those who know, realize how much better a roadcourse TT car has been maintained vs. a regular Daily driver pothole, curb jumping road warrior that gets an oil change every 6 months if it's lucky.. lol
