Okay, I am getting ready to do a cluster swap from non-tach to tach with cobolt blue overlay.
1) I need some pointers on the 12V constant switched lead to tap into for the overlay transformer to work right.
2) What panels do I need to pull off and is there an exploded view in the FSM?
I know I need to remove the A-Pillars to pull the top of the dash off, but what else is there that I need to remove? For anyone who has done this already, what kind of time frame can I expect for start to finish?
TIA

You can unscrew the top dash piece without completely removing it; just lift it up. The trim piece below the gauges also needs to come out.
If you want the gauges to glow when the parking lights come on, then you'll have to tap the power wire into the black/yellow wire in the steering column that leads into the multifunction switch on the left.

I put a guage cluster w/ a tach and white face on my neon back in january, took all of maybe 10 minutes, just unscrew the top dash piece and lift it up (like jeremyj said) and it should snap right in.
my stock gauges didnt even work, so the new cluster is awesome, and i love having a tach
im not into the 5" tachs, the stock one is fine for me
