collision damage questions
What kind of a frame does a 2gn have, is it one piece or is it separate pieces bolted together? Thanks.

Also, what is the minimum vehicle speed to deploy airbags?

Both gens are 100% uni-body and both use a lower suspension cradle (K-frame). There are no bolt-on frame rails. The uni-body rails include the crush/crumple zones.
Airbags deploy off g-force (1g = 1x the force of gravity, etc.)generated by the collision, not a specific mph.
The safing sensor (inside the airbag controller) closes to power the bag modules at 4-7g. The impact sensor (on the frame rails on 1995-96 and inside the controller on 1997-2005) closes to ground the system at 5-8g. This translates to approx. 8-16mph. The closer the impact point is to the impact sensor(s), the lower the vehicle speed required to deploy the bags.

Then my acr will probably be considered totalled. This honda crv ran a red light and I ended up t-boning him. My front bumper, hood and fenders are damaged. And the front clip or front bar on my frame is pushed over to the right. I will get pictures up today. God I hope my beloved ACR can be saved
I was barely doing 15mph at the most, just taking off on the green light, the other guy was trying to beat his red light. He was going fast enough to flip over on his top after we made contact and he fishtailed into a median curb. We're all ok, his little suv isn't. I have to go see a lawyer today and my insurance company. I still can't believe it happened.

sorry to hear about the accident. Never a fun event. Glad to hear you are alright.
My buddy had a 1st gen that was in an accident involving the front of his vehicle, doing about the same speed as yours, and sadly his factory freak couldn't be fixed and was totalled out.
Good Luck. I hope yours is different.

GOOD chance it'll be totalled since the rails are kicked to the right.
I'm presuming your airbags didn't deploy since you asked about minimum speed. The driver/passenger aribags are designed to deploy in a frontal impact between the headlights. Side impacts like you took are not supposed to trigger the sensors.
Glad to hear you're OK.

only the front beam behind the bumper is kicked to the right. About 3 to 4 inches.

See how the front beam of the frame is too pushed to the left? I like to think it could be straigthened, but the germans think different. If this event happened in the states, I could afford to buy it back and fix it. I am very sad, but I did get approved for an SRT-4 today,
