10 dollar true solid motor mounts

Post by underway » Sun Nov 18, 2007 4:07 pm

hey 2GN i use to own a neon and be on here alot... i just thought id try and let u all in on a cool mod i did but never told anyone... i made upper and lower solid motor mounts for my neon out of a 10 dollar peice of square bar... all u need is a mig welder, 8 washers, and few feet of 1in square bar....sorry i have no pictures but its kind of self explanitory how to do it by looking at other solid motor mounts for sale.... just copy that dog bone style with square bar and throw a washer on all for openings to run the bolts thru... i had mine on my car for over a year and never broke.... tho i tried my best... lol... PM me if u have questions...

why not spend a few more bucks and get some round stock for the ends? drill the square stock, cut, weld round into the half-circle, and not have to worry about the bolt rattling around inside the square tubing.

thats a pretty good idea... .. but as far as my idea they dont rattle around... the washers have the correct bolt size so it dosent move at all... i slammed on those mounts for a good year as a weekend drag racer and never had any affect on them... and shoot cant beat 10 bucks for solid mounts all around lol

I think it'd cost me a bit more then $10 bucks since I'd have to buy a MIG welder,LOL. Still, not a bad Idea, it's just not everyone has access to the equiptment to do fab work.
