ran over paint...how to remove?
I apparently ran over paint the other night. My girlfriend and I went to dinner and when I got out of the car to give it to the valet guy, I noticed there was something white splashed all on the side of my car, I thought it must have been clay or something.
I checked it out during the day and I'm pretty sure it's paint, I don't know how it got on my car. It's all in my wheel wells and splashed on the side and rear bumper, it's also in the tread of my tires.
Is there anyway to remove the paint? Some of it comes off if I work at it with my fingernail, but is there an easier way?

gasoline takes off spray paint w/o harming the factory paint. you have to wax after that, it strips all chemical treatment from the paint. and don't smoke while doing it.
if that doesn't work, i'd try paint thinner after trying it on the underside of the front bumper to see if it harms the factory paint.
you might try a clay bar, but doubt it will work after it drys.

Acetone works wonders...
At least it does with spray paint overspray. Just wipe it fairly quickly and it should come right off - It's how I' got the white spray paint off of my police cruiser when they just sprayed over the decals instead of removing them when they retired the cruiser. Just make sure you re-wax the surface you use it on when you're done.

dude your not serious right. paint thinner will fade or make the finish look flat..
all you really need is to buff it out with polish or cleaner.. whatever polish you get make sure it wont damage your finish because that polish will eat through your paint.
funny story, when i was at 14years of age I was waxing my dads truck in the mid summer day. At the peak hotest hour of the dam day.. I must have been under the sun for about 3 hrs detailing the truck when my dad found me standing next to his truck like a zombie polishing the same spot on the hood. The glare on the paint had impaired my sight so I was always trying to polish out a circle figure out of this one spot on the hood. truns out it was the sun and when my dad woke me up I had already polished the paint out down to the primer.. dang
I shouldnt have been out there for that long man.. everytime i closed my eyes that day i could still see that glare figure...

try some automotive goo gone from autzone or your local part store, its safer on the paint than the regular goo gone.

the best thing to use is isopropyl alcohol...it wont damage ur paint and it will remove the paint stains...i had the same problem when i ran the side of my car against the garage.
Acetone and paint thinners will destroy ur car paint...the alcohol will just remove the latex based paint without damaging ur car...a little wax afterwards and ur done.
