06 Eclipse

Post by glasjaw » Wed Jun 15, 2005 11:07 am

I was just wondering if anyone has seen it yet and if they have what they thought about it. Eclipse is my favorite car and this new one i havent decided on yet, kinda like a 350z. 263hp 260tq v6

ive seen two on the road so far, one maroon and one white. The prelim reviews for the car werent out of this world and they all agree the handling could be better for a car that fast and the rear seating is a nightmare.

the old eclipse was an instant seller, im not so sure about this one.

my issue is that it is not awd... its fwd.. and if you look at a 350z its rwd which in my book gives it the overall edge...
I would post a mod list, but Its too long and i'm way too lazy....

I've seen 2 on the lot, 2 on the street, and watched 1 race.......IMHO....I was VERY impressed......nothing will ever beat the '97-'99 body style......but the new one is WAY better than the '00-'05 body style.......props to Mitsu.....

i saw a few at the mitsu. dealership a couple of weeks ago, im not a big fan of the clear/chrome taillights, but id drive one if given the chance.

my friend is the editor of speed, style and sound magazine and he got to go test drive one before it came out. he said its an awesome car, but too high priced. i think they are using it for a cover shot soon ...i think...lol

I havent seen it in person yet. Saw a pic of the interior, looks sick! It's not as nice as the eclipse of the mid 90's, but it's way nicer the last model. and 263hp sounds very interesting!

My GF wants one, they look OK to me. they do tip the scales a lil to much for my taste, and they look heave. I do like the interior though.
Justin- I have nothing but smart ass remarks to add.

It's okay, but there are a few things I don't like about its styling: The front quarter windows are funky, and the wheels/tires look way too small for the car, they don't fill the wheelwells at all. But Eclipses have always been that way with the wheels. Other things I don't like are the heavy curb weight, that it's way bigger than the outgoing model, and the fact that they still only offer it in front wheel drive. The big V6 makes lots of power, though.

Twin Turbo won't work on that motor too well.. lol... FWD tranny has to sit the opposite it way making it much harder since you'll have one turbo in the front and one in the rear.. come on louie... :P

like everyone else said... she needs to go on a slimfast diet.

It looks like it will be a good GT car, just not quite a real sports car (i.e. 350z) in the handling dept.

and could use a small nose job, I'm seeing a bit of Sunfire showing up (yuck). but all in all, not bad. Worth a look and drive, and beats the hell out of the one it replaces.

your not missing anything in that commercial, its stupid. there are just some asian chicks banging on some drums and then the car comes out. the girls arent even really hot. I would have to give it a second thought if i had to option of hittin one of them.

a real quick second though

yea, but i did a little taiko drumming (what those chicks are doing) in high school, and i really wish i could do more. but those drums are HELLA expensive, and there aren't any clubs nearby. so i like watching it when i can instead of being able to play.

plus, i dig cute asian chicks. 8)
