I had one of those totally FUBAR my system. I had to reformat HAHAHA.
But I might give them a try. I'm all about performance, and even though they alter the .DLL's....I still feel a lag with 2 gigs of ram and a Dual core =[

I blame that on Vista, really. Vista sucks from a flexibility standpoint.
XP > Vista.
XP > Vista.

The first time it told me my 2-month old DVD rom was incompatible, I decided to avoid it.
Before that, I was already on the road to distaste when Vista kept pestering me two, sometimes three times in a row, making sure I wanted to copy/move/etc. a file. The new security routine is rediculous. I know you can disable much of that, but to enable it as default is stupid on Microsoft's part.
Then there's the marquee style menus vs. the XP tiled start menus. I like to see the "tree" of where I am on the start menu, and you can't do that.
There aren't any reasons why anyone needs Vista. There are a number of reasons why NOT to get Vista, especially if your system is more than a year old, as you will likely have compatibility issues with some or all of your hardware.
I'm not a Microsoft-basher. I just think that XP was the pinneacle of windows interface, and there wasn't much room for improvement. Vista was an attempt to fix what wasn't broke (I'm speaking purely of the interface in this respect). The fact that it's not very backwards-compatible (and forces you to spend more $$$ on new hardware, basically building a new sysytem) makes things even worse.
I have a new notebook PC from Compaq (HP), only had it for 2 months. It was the only model still sold with XP. I'm so much happier than my two friends who both bought Vista machines. Both their webcams, one guy's joystick, and the other guy's Conexant motherboard audio (Conexant is COMMON, too) don't work with it.

Check out Interface Lift if you're getting into windows customizing.
LINUX FTW!
The new version of Ubuntu is out, you guys should check it out. All you gotta do is burn it to disk, then reboot. Its free!
I really don't like vista. I do, however, think it is a lot more safe to use for the "average" PC user. I find it frustrating for the things I like to do though. The whole "I'm gunna use 50% of your RAM to cache for things that you 'might do'" kinda pisses me off.

You might be bottlenecking elsewhere. Lower Mobo buss speeds? HDD speed/cache, HDD SATA or IDE?Adionik wrote:But I might give them a try. I'm all about performance, and even though they alter the .DLL's....I still feel a lag with 2 gigs of ram and a Dual core =[
