need some advice

Post by neon_ert3 » Wed Nov 28, 2007 2:47 pm

early this year my neon was t-boned and i lost the case cuz i couldnt prove the lady had her headlights off and she had the right away, plus i was 19 and she was rich. anyways, i bought a rsx after that and was raped for 5 months on insurance. so i traded that in for a 1.8t jetta and had 5gs neg eq. :cussing: to make a long story short ..... i want out. some of my friends say to have it stolen or hit some one pullin out. others go as far as to say tie a deer up to a tree and hit it a couple times. i want another neon but dont want MORE neg eq. btw i got gap so if its totalled its paid for. what would/have others done in this situation?

Insurance fraud is a good way to get someone named Bubba to make you pay for dropping the Soap.. So unless you're into that sort of thing..

Your Stuck.

Asking if you should do Insurance Fraud on a Public Forum isn't smart either.

Definitly not a good idea to commit insurance fraud.

People make mistakes. In the big picture $5000 isn't that much. The average american has double that in just credit card debt.

QFT. /thread. If you do any of the things suggested to you, you will be scum. Call this a life lesson and learn from it. Negative equity is a bad thing.

I'm 4k negative with my neon. You know what I'm doing?

instead of paying the usual $300 a month, I'm paying $500 on it. My entire tax returns and bonus check i get from work, all going to the neon.

By April I'll have it down below trade-in value. :)

i had a friend in a similiar situation....he got two years jail time and 5 years probation for this....

he had a person he knew steal the car, and drive it off a cliff into water. cops later figured it all out, he still had to pay for his car, and got his sentence....

not smart

You know if you did do any of those things you listed you would have a much better chance of going to jail...you just put them out in the open. Anyone can read this forum.

Buy a 1gn neon for $1000 and run it until it dies or you get out of debt.

The world will F you in the rear whenever it can.

Yea, it sucks man... belive me. I hate owning almost 10k on my neon, but that what happens with negative trade in.

Just over-pay every month, throw every cent you have at that car. It's really your only hope.

double up payments... stop buying crap you dont need first off -- take your premiums high so your insurance goes down, drive careful, and most importantly, put all pennies liek Opi said to your car.

Right now I owe ~~8000 on my neon, its worth like 6500. I'm gonna up the payments to 350 or so, so I can pay it off early.

I'm going to use my retirement money to pay mine off next month. Does this hurt? Sure, but it beats the kind of stuff your "friends" have suggested. Maybe you should look for better friends?

While this is an excellent idea, before you start cutting larger than payment checks to your loan company, you should check into whether the do principal or intrest first. most auto loans are interest first, for just this ituation. if you pay more than the monthly minimum, the extra goes towards the interest on the principal over the entire agreed-upon term of the loan, then when that interest is paid, they will apply it towards the principal (obviously, since that's all that will be left). most companies, unless you write two checks, will apply any "over-payment" towards interest unless you express in writing that you wish it to be applied to principal.

like already stated, life will fuck you in the ass every time it gets a chance, the same goes for insurance/loan companies.

Edit: PS, i rolled over 3.2k from my SXT into my SRT-4 loan. in my opinion, it was worth it. in my father's opinion, i'm going to end up paying $700 under retail for a 3 year old car. he thinks i'm a dumbass. he hasn't ridden in the car yet lol. he'd change his mind if he did.

Everything I pay over goes towards principal, not interest. My interest is set monthly and I'm not penalized for paying the loan off early.

I made sure to check out all the details before I went about with my plan of action.
