How many swappable engines?

Doing a SRT-4 Motor swap into your Neon, maybe even a 2.4... have questions about it, what you'll need or what issues you'll run into? Answers can be found in here.

How many swappable engines?

Post by Skidman » Fri Nov 30, 2007 2:30 am

I was wondering how many swappable engines are there for the Neon? The 240sx had at least 4 or 5 popular swaps that could be done...with even the base engine being powerful enough it didnt need to be swapped.

For the neon usually all I hear is the 2.4L swap...or srt swap. I dunno..it just seems kinda limited...and i find it odd the DOHC swaps for the neon arent particularly better than the original SOHC.

Welcome to driving an American Sport Compact.

2.4L, DOHC 2.0, or 2.4L Turbo

There isn't much out there in the form of 4cylinders that chrysler has made/makes.

American car companies do this to keep costs down.

Look at GM.. Currently 4 cars use the same 2.0L Turbo 260hp engine. Solstice GXP, Sky Redline, Cobalt SS/TC, HHR SS. Those same models use the same N/A motor the 2.4L

well if they would pick a CAR(not a truck) and stick to it they would make money. They didnt even advertise the neon srt4...and look how well it did. They BARELY changed the neon from when it came out till the last one. And the Dodge Caliber sucks..they shoulda just stuck with the neon. They never tried to bring it bak

Meh, it really depends on how much creativity and cash you have. :D
But as far as "direct bolt in" yeah, it's pretty limited.

How about a V8? This one makes 400 horsepower @ 10,000 rpm, it weighs 200 lbs and it will fit under your arm (21 inches across the valve covers) it's tiny. There's a picture some where in that site of it mated to a focus transaxle and sitting next to a focus zetec engine. It's smaller than the zetec.

Check out the dyno video, it sounds great.

To bad they cost $25k.
