The right air filter

Post by Skidman » Sat Dec 01, 2007 1:39 pm

Amsoil seems to make the best air filter..but i see everyone buying the K&N filters. The reason i say this is because Amsoil's filter is made from nanotechnology or some crap...it sounds better and it makes sense. K&N uses the conventional setup.

Anyone have an experience with Amsoil?

Their oil sounds better too

as long as the air filter stops objects from going into your engine and allows a good amount of air flow you'll be okay.

not sure if you need a filter to stop bacteria from going into your engine, but if your that paranoid then amsoil might be your best bet.

And they make great oil!
for race and/or high performance cars.

stick with mobil one.

This couldn't be farther from the truth.

AMSOIL makes great oil. It costs a good bit more, however if you take advantage of the extended oil changes then it becomes worth it. If you are going to go 10,000 or possibly more miles between oil changes then AMSOIL is a good choice. 7500 miles or less, go with a standard off the shelf oil, such as Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platnum, Castrol Syntec, etc.

Their air filters are awesome air filters. K&N's do lack in the dust department. But depending on where you live, and drive, you may or may not have to worry about dust. If you find yourself on highways a lot or in city's you probably don't have to worry about the dust. Backroads can be a different story.

Both air filters flow well. The AMSOIL filter, filters better. Both are cleanable. Plus since the AMSOIL filter is a dry filter, so there is no concern about over oiling the filter, like with the K&N filter. I would definitly buy an AMSOIL filter...

However, AMSOIL does not off an EAA air filter for a 2gn neon.

Hmmm, they use the same media as the Donaldson air filters. (which they also sell on their website) Donaldson also makes the filters for Shop-Vac (the blue ones) that sell for $15. Looks like a possible cheaper CAI filter solution... just need an end cap/base. It is the same media so the quality shouldn't be compromised.

You said..

AMSOIL is for race/high performance engines

Which it is not. It's for every engine.

You were also either unaware or ignorant to the fact about K&N's.

Thats all.

wtf, i didnd't even talk about k&n's....
were the hell did i even mention a brand name!? now your just reaching bro, give it up.

and if you want to be a bitch, i'd prefer AEM dry filters over K&N's anyways

and sure, you can put amsoil in any engine, its a oil, i'm not fucking retarded, but there is absolutley no reason to put it in a n/a stock 2.0, ever! so i'm just telling him to stick with mobil one!

Sometime i think you say shit to contradict me on purpose for whatever reason.

Dude, calm down. I'm not attacking you. K&N's were in question, so I assumed you were still talking about K&N's.

Actually there is a reason to put AMSOIL in a stock 2.0, if you want to run extended oil changes up to or greater than 10,000 miles. Don't say that is too long because it isn't. It all depends on driving conditions.

Mobil 1 isn't the best stuff out there either. It depends on the car. I noticed more noise with Mobil 1 than I did with Pennzoil Platnum. I would try AMSOIL, but I'm not interested in going that long between changes because I don't drive my car that much.

How about you keep the name calling to a minimum? There is no reason to call me a bitch. Step away from the computer for a few min and calm down. I wasn't trying to start anything. You blew this up bigger than it should.

1. I never claim to have the fastest car.

2. I never claim to know it all.

3. I'm not being negative, just correcting information.

lol I TOLD her to get me a used KA24DE for like $750...then we could get the radiator and brakes fixed and all that for prolly like $1500...but my uncle was tryna get me to buy a $3K rebuilt motor(way too much)...i wldnt buy it and the car got towed from his shop...someone is prolly parting it out or something. We bought my 02 Neon SXT wit 70K miles on it for $2500....so now im stuck with a $1K lien..$50/mo car payment, $417 insurance(full coverage cnt get liability), NO JOB

And if i tried to sell it the most i could expect was $3500 bak($4500 insurance plan)....i feel like i got screwed. I have to put $400 in repairs into it cuz it didnt pass inspection and the brakes need replacement(although they passed inspection)
