Post by opyr8yr » Thu Dec 06, 2007 5:28 pm

Can someone give info about upgrading the alternator in our cars? Choices, installation guide/difficulty etc.

Any information is appreciated, did a search but didnt find anything.

The PT alternator is the upgrade, you can get 100amp and even a 120amp alternator thats a direct bolt in....

I personally put a 130 amp pt cruiser alt in my car. Needed the juice for my compressors. BUt ya I bought it the card said it tested at 130. So their is an option. I cant remember what model or year pt it was though so just go and ask.

Yes it does. I just did some simple research on autozone.com. I just went through all the years of the pt cruiser and each model(turbor or non) and just went with teh one witht he highest amp rating. I put in in myself which while it wasnt horrible to do it wasnt a simple job. A hanyes manual, air tools, and about 2 or so hours and I had my new alt on with a new alt belt while I had it all apart.

Any other questions just ask.

Thanks
The korny one
