Post by neon2.0L16v » Sun Dec 23, 2007 5:44 pm

Hi guys just a quick question how the hell do u change the bulbs on a neon 2000 model. They are standard OEM front fogs and i cant get the damn things out the dealer wants to charge me £40.00 thats about $80.00 to put new bulbs in they say that you need to remove the front bumber (fender i think thats wot you guys call) If any one could pm me with a HT that would be great.

Hey How RU
You got it right, you have to remove the damn front bumper to put in the fogs, its a nightmare.....for someting so simple the job takes 2+ hours

on top of that when chrysler did mine the pricks scratched my bar....

you dont have to remove the front bumper, but if you want to just do it yourself.. but u can just remove the plastic front airdam under the front bumper, so you can get a small wrench behind the fogs, there are 3 bolts holding it in.. it helps tons if you remove the box in the fenderwell for the drivers side.. unless u got tiny hands..

i put mine in without taking off the bumper..

Removing the headlights may help also. I've removed the foglight blanks on mine to paint them but I can't remember if I did it from the top or the bottom. I'm thinkin' from the headlight hole.
Edit: And my intake silencer is removed, so yeah, it helps to be gone. (the bottom of it was missing when I got the car)

you shouldnt need to remove anything to change the BULBS

granted my fogs arent even installed yet but i was able to reach up far enough from the bottom (not even with the car jacked) to be able to turn the bulb socket and pull it out---if it had been installed.
