Okay looked on cardomain says 3.5. So went ahead ordered the JBL 3.5. Browsing over on neons.org and find out that 3.5 won't fit in the dash. So what do I do?

I did the same thing. I bought Infinity's with a 1" tweeter for the dash. I also had to fabricate for this to fit. If you don't feel confident to do this, take it to your locol Circuit City or Best Buy...among others these guys could do it pretty easily.Louie wrote:its not a true 3.5. and its VERY shallow depth. i had to fabricate a bracket for a 1" tweeter to fit.

I beg to differ guys...you all had to fab brackets for tweeter because the factory bracket is in fact for 3.5" drivers. I have a set of Audiobahn 3.5" seperates up front now, same as I did on my ACR.

Unless they are just ungodly deep, yes they should fit. You will need a right angle screwdriver of some kind to get to them. The bracket is a "c"-shape and uses (2)-phillips-head screws. I would highly recommend a set of bass blockers for them also. Woofers that small just cant handle the full audible spectrum. You can get them at circuit city, best buy, etc..recommend also a 400hz or so cut off. Let me know if you need wire codes. btw..the bass blockers install on the positive side of the driver.
Good Luck,

Darn good info 2K1ACR.. I used to have my old, old car a Ford Escort and thats what I did.. Either you get an amp that can do highs or go with 2K1ACR's advice. After having the bass blockers for a few months I later got a small amp to push my tweets, another for my mids and big ass one for my subs.. I couldn't even turn it all the way up.. Not only will the car fall apart form all the rattle or I would go deaf.. It used to leave my ears ringing..
Went a little too far with that one.. Sorry..

3.5" speakers
Hey Ryan,
Taking the dash pad off isnt that big of a deal..just time consuming.
1.) pull the weatherstripping loose from each of the front doors.
2.) GENTLY pull the a-pillar molding off each side. There are (2)-clips that are very easy to break.
3.) remove 1-screw from each side of the dash pad (the side that is hidden when the front doors are closed)
4.) remove 1-screw from each side of the vent in the center of the dash (dont drop them down the vent!)
5.) gently pry up on the front of the dash pad until all of the clips come loose.
6.) GENTLY..lift up and pull out at the same time. There are slots in the underside of the dash pad that match up with tabs on the dash, at the base of the windshield.
7.) remove (2)-phillips screws from each speaker and toss speaker in nearest trash can. Wire codes are as follows: RF+ = violet / RF- = dark blue w/red tracer / LF+ = dark green / LF- = brown w/red tracer. You can get adapters for the factory connectors at Circuit City so you can replace the factory drivers if you ever want to, otherwise I recommend solder and Scotch 33 tape or at the very least crimp caps.
8.) install new speakers w/screws removed in step 7
9.) replace the dash pad by matching up the tabs on the dash with slots on the underside of the dashpad and pushing gently toward the windshield.
10.) start pushing down on the front of the pad, every couple inches, making sure all clips are secure.
11.) replace the (2)-screws in the center vent and the screws in each side of the dash pad.
12.) replace the a-pillar molding by gently bending the tabs at the bottom so they match up with the slots in the dash pad a little easier. Snap moldings back into place and replace weatherstripping.
If I missed something, please feel free to correct me.
Hope this helps!
