Tranny Problem?

Post by strykr » Sat Jan 05, 2008 9:36 am

If my tranny, or clutch were to start going would that cause my engine to stall at lower speeds? (less then 100 k/ph)

It seems to do it at lower speeds, also it seems to take forever to change gears when I am punching it.

a simple test for your clutch is put it in 4th at about 15-20 mph and step on it, if the engine rpms go up way faster than the mph goes up then your clutch could be wearing out.

If he had a clutch... his car is an automatic, it's just misleading the way he wrote it. The only things that would stall the engine in an ATX would be an exploded torque converter (from experience) which in my case the the engine wouldn't crank till the TC was replaced. Or if it engaged two sets of clutches at once which would set CEL's and bring the car to an abrupt stop or at least test the seat belts momentarily. So I don't think it's a tranny problem.
