What i am wanting to do is have my reverse lights come on when i unlock my car. So i figured i would tie it into the dome lamp so it will also be on when i open the doors.
The one problem i have is when i am driving down the road if i decide to turn the dome on with the Multifunction switch i do not want the reverse lights on.
I would like to be able to have the Vehicle speed sensor activate a relay somehow when i begin to move or above 5 mph.
My question is can i possiblly create a circuit inline with the VSS to activate a relay which would break the connection of the dome and the reverse lights.
Thanks

possibly an rpm switch, but don,t know if they work at that low of a speed. you could put a diode in the circiut if you don't want the dome to come on with the reverse lights. or vise versa. but you can't put a diode in for either way or it will be like cutting a wire. I would suggest a relay at the dome light tie in to turn on the reverse lights. I wiil draw a diagram and edit this post.

This is a simple drawing but it will work if you find the wires to splice into. And it doesn't require anything complicated or $$$. You will have to tee splice it to the reverse circuit for the R lights to work normally.

So lets go back to the start. What are you unlocking your door, by hand or with a keyless entry? Are you saying your dome light comes on when using the keyless entry?
Our neons have two door triggers. One circuit is for the drivers door; The other watches the other 3 doors. Tying into one of these could be an option to get your signal. If you're using the power locks, there is one wire that controls both locking and unlocking. The signal is carried at different voltages.
An option instead of the reverse lights would be to use the parking lights. If you're using a keyless sytem, I'm not sure if they come on automatically for you, but you are able see them from the front and the rear, this could eliminate the need for an rpm switch.
Either way, try visiting http://the12volt.com tons of useful information there.
One last thought, you could tie into one of the ignition lines Start/Run to control a normally closed relay if you're going the parking light route. This would eliminate driving hazards.

You would also need this for the diagram I drew to work . It would need to break the power to the relay contacts in the drawing. I knew I was forgetting something!ZeroChad wrote: One last thought, you could tie into one of the ignition lines Start/Run to control a normally closed relay if you're going the parking light route. i drew a similar diagram.
i want the reverse lights to be on anytime the dome light is on so i needed something to disable that when i am moving so if i decide to turn on the dome light with the mfs the reverse do not come on.
I am now just going to use the driver seatbelt light to turn off another relay which will take the reverse lights out of the circuit.
