looking to upgrade my audio system
currently i have this
Deck: http://www.dualav.com/receivers/xdm7510.html
Front Speakers: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 6234894507
rear speakers:
http://walmart.scosche-cars.com/product ... ID=5700386
As you can see my brands are all different and i dont think my system sounds great at all, when i turn my receiver up to 24 which is about half way everything sounds garbled when just a little bass is in the song.
Also i did buy Rockford Fosgate 6X9's and i put one in the back and i left one of my sony's in and with the dual deck the sony's sounded better than the fosgates for some reason so i took the fosgates back.
So what should i do to upgrade my system, i would consider trying to sell the stuff i have and starting over. I dont want to run a 4 channel amp to my speakers and i would like to add subs/sub to the back. I used to have a 2 Dual subs in a blue lit up box with a power akoustic amp and that hit plenty hard so i dont need a sub/subs that hit harder than that.
so please help me on what i should do and what i should get. I also dont understand how high pass filter works so if someone could explain that to me that would help. I dont have huge amounts of money and dont need top of the line, just something that sounds a lot better than what i have.
So if you can post a setup that you think sounds the best.

2005 dodge neon sxt- mopar lip kit, K&N Typhoon intake, MPx 60mm TB, M3 CF side mirrors, destroyed underglows..., interior glows
high pass filter = you set the level and only sounds above that level are played through the speakers.
example i set my HPF to 125khz so that only sounds above that play through my speakers..
HPF is theoretically its supposed to protect speakers from blowing out from too much bass... doesnt mean they still wont blow from being played too high

i would get an amp for my inside speakers but i think it woudl be sooo hard to run the amp to the front speakers. Is it hard? How woudl you do that? Because if i do that then maybe i get some decent 6X9's that can handle bass?

its not that hard...just run the speaker wire to each side just like you would run ur rca's to the back as well as the power wire.05neonsxt wrote:i would get an amp for my inside speakers but i think it woudl be sooo hard to run the amp to the front speakers. if you are going to be getting a sub you will have it all apart already.
now if you really wanted good sound quality you would go with some component front speakers and replace the stock tweeter with the new one. but then u get to worry about the cross over box.

uhm i am not 100% sure but there is the place where the factory uses to put wires that are needed into the door...you will just run ur wires into there.
it should be easy to see once you have your front door pannel off and some of the other pannels.
i will try and look on my car and see where it is that you access that but it shouldnt be any harder than pulling off some plastic and putting it back.

get some kenwood 6x9s. thats wat im running with some Total Mobile Audio component 6-3/4sthe crossover fits perfectrite under the arm rest. i say buy quality stuff to begin with that way you dont have to go back n buy more wen your shit blows out. and this is jus an idea but instead of running the wires from the amp thru the doors jus run them under the center console n hook them up to where the harness is. thats wat im guna do. sounds easier to me...

Do not waste money on 6X9's. Get a good set of components for the front, then a nice 10 or 12 inch sub for the bass.

From crutchfield:
Component speaker systems use separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers to send out detailed, dynamic sound. The crossovers send the low frequencies to the woofers and the highs to the tweeters, freeing up each driver to play with incredible clarity. Component speakers offer the listener greater imaging possibilities than full-range speakers via increased flexibility in placement, aim, and control. Getting the great sound that components have to offer does come with a price. Component speaker installations generally require more time and effort than coaxial speaker installations. Depending on your vehicle and where you choose to place your components, they may require drilling or cutting. But don't be intimidated; this installation guide can help even first-time installers find their way through the process.
Pretty much it allows the woofer to take car of only mids and the tweeter to take car of only highs. Sounds about 10 X's better then your average full range speaker. only downside is you would need an amp to run them well as most take between 50-75 watts RMS.
Oh and a little pointer, ALWAYS LOOK AT RMS RATING ON SPEAKERS! Some people do not do this. RMS is the only true rating you can look at when comparing speakers and amps together. DO NOT USE MAX WATTS.(not yelling at you just making it clear
