Injector Question

Post by seisephiroth » Sat Jan 12, 2008 6:14 pm

hey guys, haven't posted in a while

I've still had problems with cylinder 1 missfiring, and i've upgraded sparkplugs twice, one to V-power, second to Iridium, and the problem still exists, so could it be a clogged injector? if so how would I clean that?

More likely a coil pack, but sure, it could be.

stock coil, I also may have a boost leak, but the more I think about it it could be the comp pulling the boost schedule due to the missfiring

i would say change the injector. i have seen that on a few cars between school and work. i never thought a injector could cause a missfire but they can and right after i changed the injectors and cleard the codes the mifires stoped. you could also try some lucas injector cleaner to your gas or something eqivanlant if you dont feel like swaping the injectors right away.

before going that route, take the injector off of whichever cylender is misfiring and put it on a different one, see if the misfire code follows it. if not, you've eliminated that problem and need to move on to plugs/wires/coil.

what he is saying:
If cylinder #3 is misfiring, move that injector to cyl #1 and see if the misfire is still happening but now on cyl #1. What this will tell you is the injector is bad and with you moving that injector to cylinder #1 the misfire should be there now. If cylinder #3 is still misfiring even with moving the injector to a different cylinder, its not the injector and is a different problem.

I was thinking maybe spend the extra money for an MSD coil. and yea I know I need to come back, after the swap I hit a rough spot in my life, where not much was going right with my life, though things seem to be picking up now. I'll try and get on here more often, and i'm gonna try to make it to carlisle again. I had a blast

^ what he said. Go with a stock coil unless you plan to show off the engine bay.

Even though the plugs come pre-gapped, you should still check them....

Glad that you found the problem. I had the same problem too and switched my coil to MSD coil and never had a problem sense.

I dont understand why ppl are saying dont get the MSD. Hell the one reason I got mine was because it was cheaper than the stock coil that they quoted me at autozone, not because it was an MSD.

Good luck and god speed :thumbleft: :D
