emissions

Post by jprince » Sun Jan 13, 2008 10:00 pm

ok well i know that parts in the USA have emission testing, well up here in Canada ottawa to be more spacific we have the same, yet i still see everyone running around in the boosted cars. Now i dont know how but the emission thing is the only thing holding me back from boosting my neon. Does anyone know how they get around and or pass the emission test with a boosted car??

does Ottawa do the emissions test by plugging into the car? if so, all you gotta worry about is that you dont have any trouble codes and all of the systems are ready and responding.....

as long as they don't do a visual inspection, and you don't have any codes, you'll be fine. even if they do a sniffer, you'll pass. our cars actually emit so little that you could pass a sniffer with no cat.

if they do a visual, find a shop that's more forgiving of mods ;-)

Keep your stock stuff around. When it comes to emissions...put everything stock back on, take her in, run it, then put everything back on. I actually converted back to stock for this reason as well...but I'm selling the car to my brother and he doesn't need power.

I miss my neon at times. She treated me well and taught me a lot about cars in general. I will always have a special place in my heart for these cars. Heres to the 2gn community.

well here the probe the exhaust i think thats the sniffer.. yeah i emmished my car last year and its passed really good, what they do here is a "at idle" then at 40km/h for a few min each. So you guys think with a srt4 setup with a spoolboy mod etc etc it should pass??

If you have the cat in defiantly. If you don't have a cat you could get away with it if you had control over your tuning (ie MS)

edit, I meant to say tuning not timing.
