Does anyone have this?

Post by 2k1MotorSport » Mon Jan 14, 2008 5:47 pm

I noticed this after i bought the R/T and i didn't know if it was something that was so small and pointless that no one talked about. But i think its awesome.

The hole in the CD Tray/CD Changer Bezel... sits a light. I didn't know if this was something that was standard on the R/T models because i know i didn't have it on my 01 SE. I'm not really sure what to call it... maybe a 'Beverage Light'. The light was to dim to get a pic of it shining on my center console, but you can notice this when your in the car.

I'm sorry for the crappy pics... It was at close range w/ my camera.

i had that on my '00 ES. well, i guess i still have it...it's just covered with fiberglass now (well, the hole is...i took the light out). but yea, it is kinda neat that they decided to light those two lower cup holders.

btw, this topic is rly random!

My 2000 ES had that light. It was the first Neon I'd seen with it when I first got the car. None of the other 4 2gn's my family had had had them. (see if you can keep up with the "had's") I actually removed the light, but used the wiring available right there to install some LED shot lights down low on the center console by the seats, pointing into the footwells.

Can you post some pics of your car. You have some crazy things on it that were never factory options.

DCX dropped the cupholder light after the '01 model year (yes, more de-contenting to keep the MSRP down). I would really like to add that to my SRT (I've already talked with my mechanic about how to go about installing it).

Its an led. Not like you have to incorperate 42 mexican midgets in your car with no one noticing. Thins is less than 5mm and pulls miliamps of power. Trust me. Ain't a tuffy.

its not an led, its just a regular bulb. to hook up that little light is find a ground and find an orange wire to connect to.

Well then they are dumb for not using an led. And still it is simple to instal. You don't need to talk to a mechanic to get it done. Trust me I am sure you can handle it.

If we turn to page 8L-29 in the '02 FSM it shows "Cup Holder Lamp" as well as on 8W-91-20 it lists "Center Stack Lamp" wiring but upon further inspection on my car, no such wiring can be found hidden.

I didn't know they had the wood grain in Canada. Do you also have the wood grain on the door panels or just all leather?

Thats why some corners are cut, look at the passenger door handle lock cylinder. They deleted it, that saved them how many $'s per vehicle produced...
