2000 Dodge Neon RT Concept

Post by GTS » Wed Jan 16, 2008 9:52 am

I just found these pictures, they are of the 99/00 Neon RT concept model, and from the looks of it it has an interesting exhaust system, but only the base model engine in it... and the brakes look fake...
Any comments on this, if you look in detail there are many differences, including the cluster which is not 140mph and also the front fascia...
Here are some pictures...

I like the way the side skirts sort of wrap around the rear fascia, and also the way its lowered and those pretty BBS wheels... it makes it look good but is it just me or do I need some magnification to see those calipers... all I see is rotors...

If there is any calipers :) It isn't unusual to see a show car without working bits like that to get it ready for the show. "It is sitting on the show floor, who needs to stop" kinda thing.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

you almost got me with that power window pic... that's not a neon door panel and it doesn't match up with the other pics.

And why is it that in the pic of the front, the car looks like it's smiling a lot more than usual?

Apparently, it was on there (the 4 door power windows) at least the switch panel was.

Also, I think its maybe because of the European front as opposed to the US front fascia...

I dunno.... I like the lip on the front of the bumper since it's a little larger but I don't like it. I think the rear bumper looks fugly as does the exhaust and R/T decals. Wheels look nice though.

The picture with the power windows doesnt look to be from a neon so it must be a mix up or something, these were loaded up on some random site with comparsion photos of other cars in its class and I managed to get most of them before the site dissapeared...

But not bad I guess, there are images of it in both a 1999 and 2000 auto shows so I guess it was in almost production ready version in that time... sadly they dont have the new engine in it as well as the 140MPH speedo, there are probably other differences that I cant spot off right now...

It doesn't look like the steering wheel and shift knob is leather. Just the base model material

These are all from the Detroits auto show from 1999 and 2000, in fact most of them are from the 2000 one the ones in 99 are only from the outside, cuz I guess they didnt let anyone near it...

I think that this might be the same car (found this pic on a Canadian site some time back). Notice that it has the same seatbelts and R/T insignia on the headrests.

I want those headrests! I am assuming nothing on this car can be purchased? Just a concept right?

Rims and front look damn good.
Rear bumper reminds me of the Corolla 2003^ factory lip kit, eh.
Exhaust looks like it came from a video game (Juiced)
They wrinkled the door inserts on purpose?!
R/T decal too much.

IDK I guess overall it's ok, but it is pretty damn close to what was produced. A lot closer than the original Neon concept was in the early 90s.

I hate to say it but i think those rims are the same BBS wheel thats on the SRT ACR. The only difference is the marks between the lugs. And they are still expensive.

Wheels are the best part... Exhaust looks like crap, the R/T decal is too big, and kinda everywhere. And is it just me, or is the interior brown? It looks horrible.

brown interior? that's the same dark slate that most of us have. I think it's just the flash from whatever camera was used.

i like it and like krackstar stated above, thats how they should of been built. also, there was a lighter dark slate as i got a glove box that i pulled from a 01, installed it in my car and was lighter than the interior.

The wheels do look like the ACR bbs wheels just a larger diameter. I personally like the back bumper, now if they woulda have had the exhaust cut outs in it like the srts and the r/t's and have it sit flush in the middle id look pretty sweet. But then again thats just my opinion.

Yeah I saw that at the NAIAS and I didnt know what to think of it, kinda like it but if its just going to be show then forget it, now if they slap a 6.1L and make it a RWD I will be all over this thing...
.... but looks like just dreams for now.

As for the neon there were some more pictures of the engines and I saw a 1.6L 16V in there on one of them pictures, and also looks like a 1.8L was offered under CS name for europe..

Here are some more of that caravan...
